Anyone been told no Vba2c b/c its to close to last c/s and thin uterus?

Hello,
I have had two prior c-section, my daughter and son were 18 months apart and this one is also about 18 months apart, due in june. I was denied Vbac for this one because they said, first off it appeared that I had a thinning window by my incision in my uterus, but I read my records because I have to change doctors (due to insurance) and in the records the doctor wrote that she had put a second imbricating layer place on the incision to have reinforcement, and that it hasnt been at least 2 years since my last c/s. I am still wanting to do Vba2c and still am in transition for finding a new doctor. Has anyone been told this and accomplished the Vba2c? And is there any suggestions for me. Thank you for all the encouragement through all shared stories!

I havn't experienced this myself, but from what I have heard I think 18 months is safe. I would make sure to find a midwife that is supportive of you, if you can't find a midwife then look for a supportive doctor. ICAN can probably help you to find a vbac2c provider.

Yes, I had repeat c/s after 23 months. They flat out refused a vbac and so did the midwives saying it was too soon and it should be 2 yrs between actual c/s and the next pregnancy.
I tried around a little bit and came up with no other options.
Im now 34 weeks pregnant and found an ob that I have to travel over an hr for the hosp.- but Im having a vbac this time!

My c/s and vbac were not quite 22 months apart....my OB was totally fine as long as they were 18 months apart. That's the "magic" number I often here. Although I have 1 friend that VBAC'd with her's about 14/15 months apart...and another that is allowed to with hers 17 months apart. Another friend VBAC'd with hers 23 months apart.

As for your situation, I'm not sure about the thin window and the second layer...i don't know much about that kind of thing.

Good luck finding a new provider...I hope you can find someone to support you with what you desire!

It's hard to know what exactly was up with your uterus thinning - was it a true dishesion/window, or simply what looked "thin"? Either way, it sounds like some caution is in order. I don't personally have experience with this, but it seems prudent to talk to the doctor who did the 2nd c/s and see what, if anything, she recalls. If she can't remember and your current doctor thinks there's a high risk of rupture with this pregnancy (like greater than 2% or so) I would probably get a second opinion, but consider the possibility that a VBA2C may not be the best choice in your situation. I don't know enough to say one way or another whether this is the case, just that it is possible you may opt for another c/s after weighing the odds for your particular situation. Either way, best of luck.

She had wrote it "seems to be" so it doesnt sound major, other wise it would been an absoloute statement.. i would think
In her notes it says "thin area aprox 2cm at right lateral incision" im not sure what that could mean.. if thats the thickness or what... hmmm

The doctor who did my 2nd c/s said I should never labor again in part due to a thin uterus. During the next pg (while dealing w/ PTL), the doctors said my uterus was so thin (as seen on u/s) that they couldn't distinguish between my uterus and my bladder (not sure if this was just a scare tactic or real). Despite dire warnings, I went on to have a VBA2C w/ a "thin" uterus.

The research that I found said that while a thick uterus was a good predictor of a uterus not rupturing, a this uterus wasn't a predictor either way.

Don't forget, you cannot be denied a VBAC as a c/s cannot be forced upon you. When my HBA2C turned into a hospital birth @30 weeks, the doctors were practically circling my bed w/ scalpel in hand but I simply refused a RC.
