Why the extra prewashes for the flip?

Used the coupon for the free bg dipe, and the flip box has a sticker on it that says to wash it separately for 6 washes before washing with other products? Is the color going to fade? Is there some manufacturing ick that will get on other stuff? Does it just need to be separate from the other diapers for those prewashes or do I need to hand wash them all by their lonesome?

It's because they are cotton (natural fiber) and need to be prepped to remove the natural oils, so they will absorb the best. I love to boil all my natural fiber inserts for 15-20 min then wash with a regular load of diapers. This way you save a lot of water, time, and energy. And, will be ready to use when they are dry

the flip covers (mainly the drk blue and zinnia i think) have a bit of color that might bleed and stain your other diapers so the pre wash is to insure that you get off the extra die and not have it bleed in the wash...i just washed mine a couple times and it was fine...but i had a green. i just got the drk blue and wil wash it w/my towels for a few times

Those flip covers are pretty delicate. I only wash/dry mine by hand and the only insert for the flip that needs to be prepped up would be the organic insert. I think they just printed that on there to cover their butts. Microfiber doesn't need to be prepped and neither do the flip covers.

the flip insert instructions seem to say wash the microfiber inserts separately from cotton (for prep?) I gave them 1 wash.

I have the dark blue flip covers, there has been no bleeding of color. they got at most 1 prewash.

Thanks for the replies! I emailed cottonbabies, and the official answer is that the colors on the covers can bleed at first, so that's why they say to wash them separately.
