Weight Watchers & Nursing Points

I am doing weight watchers and nursing my baby who has JUST started solids a few days ago. He loves them. When would you drop from the 10 extra daily points to just the 5 extra daily points?
As an extra note, I also have chronic low milk supply (and have had this with all of my babies, this is because of PCOS and not because of WW) and don't want to drop the 5 points prematurely but also would like to keep losing.

Is he nursing less because of the solids? I actually rejoined today, and I only did 5, but I don't have a low milk supply. I would probably worry about it too. Maybe over the next 5 weeks you could drop a point each week to make sure it doesn't make your supply drop too much.

I started WW when my youngest was 12 months old. He was eating solids but I decided to take the full 10 points because he was still mostly nursing. Even with the 10 extra points, I experienced a big drop in supply. I upped it to 20 extra points and still had supply issues so I temporarily stopped WW in order to maintain my nursing relationship. I started back in Nov. I figure now that he is 3 I'm not so worried about my milk supply. LOL!

I've since learned that the calorie totals at WW are pretty low (1 point = about 50 calories) compared to other calorie recommendation sites, like livestrong.com, particularly for obese folks like myself, so that might be why my supply plummeted so much.

Given my experience, and that you already have supply issues, I would recommend at least the 10 extra points. You will have a slower weight loss, but hopefully maintain your milk supply. Plus, I have always heard that slow weight loss is really much easier on your body.

Good luck, and remember that you can always diet later, but your baby is only a baby for a very short while.

My dd is 16 months- She's eating solids but still nursing too. I was worried about supply so I started by giving myself the full allowance of nursing points. I'm glad I id because it seems to work out to about 1lb per week... If I hadn't lost I would have done what the pp suggested, drop a point or two a week until it evened out.
