Homeschooling Family Bikes Alaska to Argentina

Two young sons and their Mom and Dad began bicycling together June 8, 2008 and they have made it all the way down to Peru this month thus far!

You can view videos on their YouTube channel.

You can see what they've done and learned on their blog, along with a list of ideas on how to learn along with them on their trip. What an unique and real way to learn geography, by following this family along on their cycling tour! A very inspiring family story.

I am getting my marker out and going to mark their path on our map in the hallway this weekend and show my boys some of their videos.

Thanks for sharing this! It's is so far out of my comfort zone that I'm fascinated by it.

That is amazing! I am having a time with the blog though--wants a password? Anyone know what to do?

Amy, I am not sure what's up with the password thing. I just clicked on it and it worked for me. Sorry I can't be of more help on that one. Maybe try it again? Or was it the YouTube channel that asks you to sign in?

I just clicked the x, and it eventually went away

There was a writeup on them in Secular Homeschooling Magazine a while back. They've already biked across the US. They seem really interesting. Thanks for sharing!

This is really cool! Thanks for pointing it out!

Sometimes I wish I could do something like this. But it'd never be an option for us, especially since DH is barely on board with HS (or, you know, exercise... )

I am not having any problem with their blog today! This is so cool. Dh and I have thought about traveling while hs, but he would have to keep working (but could as a traveling OT), and so the cool biking thing wouldn't work. I am envious of this family! Currently we have other reasons that make traveling near impossible but it is so fun to dream about.
