i recently found out mineral oil is bad... that was a shocker! my mom had me on mineral oil since i was 1 y/o b/c ive always been very irregular i had it once a week until i was 15 then i would take it only if i was constipated...i was still doing that until last week! i even used it as baby oil for DD now i switched her oils to safflower. they didnt have organic at the store though but i figured it was still better than mineral oil and DD need her massage everyday before bed or shes too wound up. how important is it to have organic oil? could the mineral oil have done any damage to me by ingesting it or to DD by putting it on her skin?

You were ingesting it? I didn't know that it was possible!

May I suggest trying the Weleda Baby Calendula oil for your massages or the Calendula lotion?

I don't know about ingesting it, but I think you DD is probably fine - just stop using it now.

yeah ive been ingesting it my whole life! im freaking out now lol

i found baby calendula oils is expensive. if i buy safflower oil which is great for skin i can get a big jug of it pretty cheap then i just add lavender oil to it which is calming. im just saying if its not organic, since its just the oil do you think it would have pesticides in it or anything?

Mineral oil used to be recommended for constipation quite a lot. I can remember that from when I was a kid, although I'm not sure if I ever actually took it or not.

I know that mineral oil was recomended for constipation (and the bottles still say it.) If your having constipation issues still, I might try milk of magnesia, or epsom salts.

For oils for eating, olive oil, butter, and coconut oil are a few great oils.

I'd be more worried about genetic modification than pesticides. I think safflower is fine for external use, not for consumption, but yes, I'd get organic. Your skin is your biggest organ, and absorbs pretty much whatever you put on it. I'm sure organic safflower oil is availible and you could use that for your massages.
