July Mamas -- March 1 - 15 - Page 2

I've just recently been able to eat meat, but I still can't handle seeing it until it's cooked. Dh made the best steaks last night. I'm so glad I got them "for him" . I signed up with a midwife yesterday and will make my first appointment Monday (when we know dh's schedule). I'm so excited. I have no doubt in my mind that we're having a girl, but we get the ultrasound next Tues. to reassure dh. (He thinks I'm jinxing it by saying it before we "know"....we'll see.)
Dh is scared of hbirth but says it's my operation so it's my choice and supports my choices for it. I think after a few m/w visits he'll be more comfortable. And should something happen, we live about 3 min. from a great new hospital. That helps.
Does anyone have ideas on how to afford the mw??
T Not sure how to reduce my stress. Dh has been having heart problems since December (almost had a heart attack at 20 yrs. old) and we're tight on money with his dr. appts, etc. (We're thinking he'll be okay, but it's still really scary and stressful. I'd be in better mental shape if the dr.s knew what it is.) Anyone know of support groups for heart trouble in TX? And something to get my mind off of it besides excercize (already taking walks together, etc.).

Oh man! I got one of those free sessions with a personal trainer at the gym...she whooped my but! So I can't work on my abs..but she compensated by working every other part of my body to heck!
I can barely walk today....

luvinmama~so sorry to hear about your DH's heart...I work on the heart floor in the hospital..err used to, til I decided to be a sahm last month! I'll PM you with a couple ideas I have..

Can I join you ladies? I'm due 7/31/04 with our first. I had my big ultrasound last week, and it's a boy, just as I suspected! I started off seeing an OB, but since everything looked wonderful on the ultrasound, and I'm having a very easy pregnancy, I'm switching to a midwife practice that delivers at a hospital. I have my first midwife appointment later this month.
As for cravings, I can't get enough salt and vinegar potato chips! I bought 2 bags last time I went to Trader Joe's, and I've even bought frozen french fries so I can have fries with salt and vinegar. Poor DH can't stand the smell of vinegar!

WElcome Eve!

Snowy Owl- I am having BH up the wazooo! I never had so many and so painful with Goo!

This one is different though. I am definately "carrying deep" I did this with Goo. Myuterus pushes back into my body instead of popping forward. UGH I already have bruised ribs from this and it will last until she drops...That much I remember!

I met up with a friend of mine this weekend who is due a few days after me. Man, it was clear she was pregnant, but I just look like I am wearing bluky clohting!

I just had a craving for a powdered doughnut...yummy, but I am wearing a black shirt so now I am trying to get all of the powder off.

Next appointment is March 12! Goo gets to come with. She loves to come over to me and rub my belly saying baby!

Hello All!

First, Welcome Eve. Sounds like you are well on your way.

Luvinmama- Very sorry to hear about your dh. It's hard to be worried and stressed out when you're pregnant. I don't have any suggestions besides maybe try prenatal yoga or meditation (I always feel so relaxed after yoga), but I know that a support group for people in your similar situation would be best. Hopefully sunfairy (who sounds like a professional) gives you some good ideas!

I'm feeling good. I feel movement, but am looking forward to my u/s on the 11th to see that everything is O.K. My dh is out of town for the month, so I'm flying solo. He said it is up to me if I try to peak and see if the baby is a boy or a girl. I am so undecided! What is the most important is that the baby is healthy.

I haven't had many cravings - I'm just hungry and have more food aversions than anything (even these change often).

Someone (I think it was mama2addison) wanted to know if hair falling out was normal. I don't know if it is, but mine is coming out practically by the handful! I had my hair cut just so that I didn't have to deal with as much hair coming out (my hair was down to my shoulderblades before and now it's just below my ears). I love it!

Hope all are well, and growing healthy babies!

We went for the ultrasound today...my first ever. I'm suprised it took so long.
I had decided not to know the sex for the sake of dh...but then they had to double check a 'problem' with the urethra particular to a certain sex. It turned out not to be a problem but we found out...

IT'S A BOY!!!!!!!!

And healthy, too. We pretty much knew it was anything but it's nice to know for sure.

Seeing him move around and put his arms over his head and all that was really incredible. I feel euphoric... and dh is pretty excited about it too. Funny-- his first comment was..."But I don't know anything about sports"
:LOL
And dd's response was "Nooooo! I wanted a sister!"
:
So, lot's of pregnancy excitement today!

congratulations on finding out that it's a boy! I'm sure your dd will come to enjoy a little brother! haha It was so cute what she said though

Halfway there! That's a nice feeling!

I had a mw visit this week and was just barely able to hear the heartbeat on the fetalscope. We chose a homebirth plan because we didn't have insurance and it was much less expensive than a hospital birth (out of pocket).

BH contractions: I just learned at my appt that it was possible to have these this early, so when I had one last week I thought the baby was pushing it's head up or something, haha

:LOL

Now I recognize them and am having them alot. It's so strange to have my body doing something "without my permission". Guess that's just the beginning.

Food cravings and weight gain: First of all, it's great to hear about this from all of you because as a first timer, I wasn't sure what to think of all my strange cravings and pickiness. I'll be hungry but very picky at the same time (I've never been picky before). And I crave a variety of things. I've been indulging because I wasn't gaining any weight in the first trimester, and we needed at least a little. So in this last month I gained 7 pounds finally. I chalk it up to choc cake

I'm definitely sticking out tummy wise and losing my "innie" bellybutton. When I sit up this round ball sits atop my thighs, such a new and strange feeling. Bending is getting difficult but is still possible. I wouldn't know, but could I be carrying up/out? Just wondering and not sure what that means.

Family and friends are enjoying trying to suss out this little one... whether it's a boy or girl, personality quirks, etc. It's funny.

Oh, and good news! I got a great job that starts this week and goes until the end of June. Perfect timing or what?!!

Well, thanks for giving me a place to share. I'm knew to my town, so I don't have a lot of places to talk about these things. It's great just to read all your comments and know I'm fairly normal.

Welcome mama..Chloe was born in colorado...grand junction )

YAY for all these ultrasounds!!! I'm a bit jealous, I have to say. I brought it up to DH last night....can we please get an u/s and find out what we're having...I want to decorate baby's room better...and if its a boy, start recruiting some boy clothes...I went shopping and found all these great deals on baby clothes..and the yard sales are starting...and he says....
" I thought we agreed months ago, WE didn't want to find out. And imagine what a great surprise it will be, when you birth this brand new baby in our bed and Chloe is there and she finds out right then if she has a sister or a brother...imagine the look on her face and excitement in her voice when she's telling us"

*gasp*...why does he have to be so sweet, sometimes I'm not even sure he's with me on the homebirth thing, and then he comes up with that....no ultrasound for us.

sunfairy....I totally see your dh's perspective on not wanting to know...
We did it like that the first time, and it was marvelous, and finding out yesterday was marvelous too. It's just been so euphoric and exciting...like getting the positive pregnancy test. But I don't think it's a good idea to have an ultrasound just for that reason...that wasn't our reason for getting the scan. Just a side benefit. Also...apart from girl or boy, seeing him move, react to the scan, the expressions on his little face...it was so incredible. I'm still on a high from that.
Oh, I'll be adding the ultrasound picture to my pictures link in just a moment if anyone wants to check it out.

Wow, four days into the month and so many posts already!

Just got back from Disneyland last night. DS (Lars) had a great time. I missed my dh and my little guy so much though! We left on Sunday morning, so it was three nights and four days without them.

I missed out on some of the "Expectant mothers should not ride" rides, but my mom was a trooper and went on everything with Lars. I also have had REALLY sore hips after three days of non-stop walking/standing (I'm hoping this goes back away since it was one of my major pregnancy complaints with baby #2). I'm glad to be in my sedentary job again!

Nothing new on the pregnancy front. 19 weeks today. I coaxed her into moving a bit on Tuesday night. For the most part I have to be very quiet and still to feel anything. I can't wait for those kicks and bumps to start happening all the time! I have suddenly gained a bit of weight. I'm up 14 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight and up 4 pounds from just last week.

Sounds like people are doing well!!

Congrtulations of having a boy Snowy Owl! Boys are just wonderful.
So, we found out yesterday too, and. . . .

it's a girl!

We're very excited, though we all knew she was a girl, but it was nice to have our intuition validated. Truthfully though, seeing her while feeling her made it all so much more real and I'm feling nervous about having a 3 yo and a newborn again.

congrats on your girl, dalai_mama!
Isn't it exciting?

It is exciting, and the best part is hearing dh share the news with people

YAY for new little girls! I am having one too (due only a few days before you)! I am feeling a little apprehensive about it because I have a son and love him so much.

Yay for everyone who is getting such wonderful news! Sounds like everyone is doing great, aside from the usual second trimester stuff.

Snowy Owl ~ what a great u/s picture; thanks so much for sharing. I love those little profile shots!

First day of my feet swelling ~ ouch! Ankles have been there for a while now, but I had to take my birks off they hurt so darn much. Those were the only shoes I could wear last time so I don't know what I'm going to do now, LOL.

The baby kicked ds this afternoon. He was sitting in my lap while I was reading to him and I guess the baby wasn't too thrilled with the pressure and really walloped {sp?} him, at least it felt like it in my stomach. Ds wasn't fazed by it, but did change his position. Still no notice of any changes in mama yet, but dh and I are enjoying the evening gymnastics going on in my stomach the last couple of days.

Congrats to all that have found out the sex. I hope to find out in the next couple of weeks. My ob put in the orders for my us so it should be very soon. I've had really bad braxton hicks also. It seems a lot worse than my first pregnancy. The baby seems to be hvering near my left side. I feel a lot of movement at the bottom of my uterus so I hope my placenta is nice and high.

I have anemia. My hemoglobin is pretty low. I was hoping I could avoid it this time. Otherwise everything is going really well. I can't believe I'm over half way done with this pregnancy. It kind of makes me sad because this will be our last baby.
Misty, I totally understand how you're feeling since this is probably our last baby as well. I'm trying to take time every night to just focus on how I'm feeling and trying to remember all the little things about being pregnant.

One week to go until our ultrasound and my second glucose screen. Thank heavens the ob I go to doesn't make his patients fast. Plus, I had a three day diet to do prior to the last test {three hour since I was a tiny bit over on the one hour} that pumps you full of the sugars you're "supposed" to have in your diet. That's the only thing that's got me nervous right now. Otherwise just an uneventful pregnancy, which is a good thing since we all seem to have this two week cold bug.
