Is charting (like coverline) different pre and post baby

Anyone know if you should expect your temps to be similar before a baby as after a baby (and we're talking over a year after a baby)? I'm trying to google it, but it's hard to express my question to google! LOL!

But, I'm just wondering because my coverline currently is SOOO much lower than it was in the past....and out of my 4 pregnancies TTC, the cover line was almost the same every single time. My temps ranged almost identical before O and after O for each time TTC.

Now, it's just ALL messed up. And this current cycle is UGLY! Last cycle too. TTC this go round, this is all I have.

My temp this morning I was really frustrated..97.06. SO LOW to be a post O temp. I'm really confused, like never before with charting. I've always (like before this baby) had such ideal charts. So with that temp this morning, I was thinking how ugly my chart would be, but when when I looked, my temp was well above my current coverline. In the past, this would have been well below. 97.06, well above coverline seems crazy to me!

ARG...I've never been so frustrated temping as I am with this cycle!! I used to love charting because it cleared up so much of the unknown for me...now, NOT EVEN CLOSE!

even without having a child in between, throughout the year and over time your coverline will change... for example, my coverlines in the summer tend to be between half to a WHOLE degree lower than my winter ones (in the summer I sleep with a fan on me and no blankets, in the winter I use about three blankets) As for the over time thing... your body goes through changes and sometimes will just have a lower temp than others.

Other causes to look into:
Temping orally is less reliable than temping vaginally and tends to give a much lower temp (especially if you breathe through your mouth while you sleep)

Or, in rare cases, it is a sign of hypothyroidism... however I would NOT worry about this unless you show several symptoms (then a quick blood test diagnoses it and once you start pills it is corrected) This really isn't likely... but it IS a possibility... and luckily if it turns out to be what is wrong it is easily corrected with medication.

Basically, what MP said. My CL doesn't change a whole degree due to weather changes, but that may be in part because we do try to keep the house pretty consistent temperature-wise. I temp orally and don't have low or inconsistent temp issues. I agree that low temps can be related to thyroid issues, but like MP said, your temps are not THAT low and if you don't have any other symptoms, I wouldn't worry about it.

But I DID notice this is only your 2nd cycle pp? Girl, give your body some time to get back into the groove! This is definitely NOT the craziest chart I've ever seen, even if the temps are a bit more erratic than you're used to. That's common when cycles first come back; and if you're still nursing, expect some more wild and craziness in the cycles to come. Your cycles don't have to be picture perfect to show that your body is doing its thing. You just may need a bit more practice seeing the forest for the trees.

Thanks ladies! What y'all are saying does definately make sense. I'm not thinking I have any signs of a thyroid issue...so that's good. And I'm with you MP....I wrap up in the winter and sprawl out in the summer! Good call!

Yes, Mosaic, it is only my 2nd PP cycle and I just stopped nursing a couple weeks ago...so I do need to keep my head in check there! You are so right! But, as you can probably tell, I'm used to having the picture perfect cycles and I never had to see the forest for the trees! (Hehehe, I like that!) Even last time when I conceived WHILE nursing my chart was prettier...but, things change...so, I'll have to try to keep remembering that!

Thanks for the reassurance ladies! You were a very big help!

the other thing is, MN, it's not uncommon to have a big dip around 7-ish dpo. it may come right back up tomorrow. i dont think your chart is as fugly as you think it is!
