Anyone starting P90X soon? - Page 3

I have been wanting to start this- sounds like it really does work...
My question is this- are you doing a ton of jumping around? My house is on stilts and is very shaky and unstable. Maybe this can be done in the yard witha dvd player?

There is a lot of jumping around for one of the workout, plyometrics, but they really focus on soft landings facilitated by leaving jumps on your toes and landing on your toes. You could definitely do the workout outside with a dvd player though..I have thought about doing that for the yoga workout.

Well, the last 2 weeks have been crazy at my house and I haven't had any sort of chance to workout, so instead of starting week 7, I'm going back and restarting week 5.

I just finished chest, shoulders, and triceps, and I canNOT believe how much strength I lost over the 2 weeks When I started Phase 2, 2 weeks ago, I was able to get through *most* of the pushups, albeit on my knees. Today I was done w/ the pushups half way through and was struggling to lower myself at all the last half of the workout

But, tomorrow is a new day, and for me, this isn't over after 90 days. I'm hoping this will start me on a lifetime of healthy, successful, working out.

Filling My Quiver . . . It is frustrating to go back a few steps after making good progress. You'll be back in no time though.

I did Yoga X today and even though it was insanely long, I enjoyed it. I wished there had been more cueing on the breath but overall it was a solid intermediate workout. Folks who've never done yoga before? I have no idea how they could keep up without hurting themselves.

Did my 1st plyo today and it kicked my butt! In the beginning it's mentioned that Cardio X is a good sub for those not ready for all of the jumping. I think when I travel to my mom's house in a month or so I'll take Cardio X instead of Plyo. Her house is old/creaky/wobbly and I wouldn't want to be too much trouble with all of the jumping shaking... just a thought if you'd like to maybe sub Cardio X somedays that might be an idea.

utter failure last week, and yesterday so DH and I are trying to figure out the best day of the week to start (as in its not going to be Mondays!).

I also just started commuting to work via my bike and yowza on my legs. We have a tentative start scheduled for tonight and I actually want to get started as I'm missing it a bit... crazy right?

I don't know if anyone else has looked into it, but I joined a women's p90x group on the beachbody site and am loving it for accountability. If you have time, I recommend checking it out, they have a free membership option.

Just found this thread!

Yeah! I was just looking around to see if other mamas were doing P90x and happened upon this thread. I'm on Day 25 and am down 6.5 lbs (not following their diet, just restricting calories and cutting out junk food/fast food, pop, etc.) I had a REALLY hard time the first week but I'm on the first recovery week and am surprised how well week 3 went. I still can't do more than one regular push up and no pull ups that aren't modified, but I can do more reps of everything and my flexibility is way better. Also feeling stronger and generally more energy (too much so right now, I am having an insomnia attack).

My biggest problem is occupying babe while I'm working out. Yoga is crazy long. I generally have to break the tapes up into half hour sessions. Tony Horton irritates me sometimes but is growing on me.

DH is my partner and I definitely wouldn't have been able to stay this long without him. My first goal was just to complete 30 days to see if I had results and could stick with a routine for once in my life. Almost there and am definitely going to commit to 60 days now. I'm really happy with it so far. Losing weight with baby #2 has been much more challenging than first.

Keep with it Mamas!

Welcome!

Tony really annoyed me too at first. Then I watched the making of p90x on you tube..it is a bunch of short videos that you watch in order..Anyway, it brought to my attention that Tony is actually just that goofy and annoying, and it is not just an act for the p90x videos! So now I find his lame jokes kind of endearing, which is good since we spend so much time together every day!

Hi Phoenix!

Tony is growing on me too. Sellendie, even without watching anything else, I realized Tony is a goof and now it doesn't even faze me anymore. He makes me giggle. I laughed out loud today (did Legs and Back) when he was commenting on the girl's teeth that look like Chiclets because she's studying to be a dentist. I guess if you see someone everyday, they grow on you.

I am really starting to like P90X. When I started I was skeptical but I'm now thinking it's awesome and I'm so encouraged to keep going. I had already reached my weight loss goals with Weight Watchers so now I'm all about getting strong and toned. I love keeping track and doing one more rep than I did last time, adding 2-3 more lbs than I did last time. I can't do more than one regular push-up and I use a chair for chin-ups but I can feel myself getting stronger. It's all about sticking with it and it's awesome to know that I'm getting better.

Yes, Yoga X is incredibly long. I actually go to my regular yoga class most days when I'm scheduled for Yoga X or practice on my own with one of my many yoga DVDs. I've been practicing yoga for a little over a year and Yoga X is not the most challenging or best home yoga DVD so I don't feel bad switching it for something that's an hour (or an hour and a half but I enjoy more).

Let's keep it up!!

I started Week 3 yesterday and I'm amazed at how fast the first two weeks flew by. I am very sore from Chest and Back but I know that means that my muscles are getting stronger so it's okay. I fell flat on my face doing decline push-ups. How would you modify those?

Plyometrics today was t.o.u.g.h since I'm dealing with my allergies and congestion in my chest. But I got through it and I have a few moments of no congestion or sneezing since the sweating and jumping always gets things moving for me. I'm grateful for that.

I'm planning to do Shoulders and Arms tomorrow (Tuesday). Wednesday is supposed to be Yoga X but I think I will do Kenpo X (give it another try) or some other cardio that day so that I can go to my yoga class on Thursday. Friday, my favorite, Legs and Back. Last Friday for Legs and Back, I used 25 lbs. for all exercises where Tony suggested. This Friday, I'm going for 30. I love how much weight I'm able to lift now in such a (relatively) short period of time.

How's it going with you all?

Today begins week 7 for me! Wednesday is my official half way mark. I am so excited to be on the other side of that half way point. I have Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps today, which is a great workout. Total jelly arms by the end! I had some dessert on Sunday while at the n-laws for dinner and it was glorious - toasty pound cake with fresh strawberries, yum!

Hi everyone!
I am glad that I popped in again. I had company over the weekend and so I haven't done anything for 3 days (again for the second time) and ate yucky. I was feeling really deflated until I read your posts.
I'm ready to get back on it tomorrow! I feel soooo much better about myself (and everything) when I do it!
I am starting week 4 - Recovery week. I am looking forward to trying out the Stretch X session, as I always choose to rest on day 7 instead of stretching.
Keep up the good work, everyone!!

I am still in so much pain from Sunday. I can't even lift my arms above my head without pain. I know the soreness is good and you should push through and all that but I couldn't bring myself to lift weights today (today was shoulders and arms). So I'm taking my rest day today.

Three Little Birds, next week is my recovery week too. I'm looking forward.

I agree that the site is rather confusing and too much to look at.

I'm a couple days into my second recovery week, and then on to my last month, yay! I am seriously missing nacho night around here though. How is everyone else doing??
I'm middle of 3rd week really excited to try out recovery week next week. I can't believe how much I look forward to working out. I actually get up early to do it out of excitement. Tony's attitude really helps.. sometimes I think oh my gosh I don't think I can do even another 30 seconds - then he says something like Tony's grabbing his knees! or I'm hitting my own personal pause button.. I figure if he's feeling the same as me and finishing than so can I. I surprised though, while I see some changes in my shoulders/chest - it's mostly my legs that I feel a difference. It must be plyo... can't say I've ever jumped around like that in my life.

I'm still chugging along with Insanity. I am almost done with month 2 week one, and month two is sooooo much harder that I had to stop doubling it up with the Chalean Extreme lifting days, so I am just doing Insanity. I actually think I still really like it, but going from about a 40 minute workout to a 60 minute workout at this intensity has been really hard for me. I was thinking of P90X for the fall, but I'm wondering if the longer workouts would work for me. It isn't the time, with Insanity and Chalean I was working out at least 90 minutes, but I like changing it up after about 40 minutes.
