Anyone starting P90X soon? - Page 4

This week past was my recovery week. And I enjoyed it fully--doing anything but recovering. I did lots of cardio, a little bit of lifting and extra yoga. P90X is just not enough cardio for me and I do not have the time to do anything extra with most workouts for P90X being 75 mins. If I could squeeze 30 minutes of cardio in at some other point during my day, P90X would be awesome. My friend gifted me Insanity and I'm thinking of switching to that but I'm pretty sure there's not enough strength training involved. However, most of the workouts in Insanity are about 40 minutes or so I pretty sure I could fit in 30-40 minutes of strength after that. I think I'm going to have to devise some kind of workout program that suits me because nothing I've found yet is the perfect fit. I want lots of cardio but a pretty heavy emphasis on weight training.

I am planning to do another round of p90x, but replace the cardio workouts like plyo and kenpo with a couple of the more intense Insanity workouts.

I just started phase III 3 yesterday and I can't wait to take those day 90 pics!

Took my 60 day pics yesterday, so happy with my results so far. Everyone else still pressing play?

I'm going to re-join you on Sunday doing what you're doing (i.e. replace some of the cardio w/ more intense Insanity stuff).

Congrats on the 60 day pics. Sad to say I couldn't bring myself to take a picture. I can't take looking at my belly in the mirror much less in a picture. But I am noticing a lot of difference which is why I'm ready to return to P90X.

I'm still pressing play!! Had a minor procedure on my foot last Thurs which kept me from wo Fri & Sat. But since it was recovery week I'm just going to pick back up on week 5 tomorrow after stretching today. I can see changes. I'm certain I'd see a lot more if I'd cut out ice cream.

LoL!! Yay about seeing changes!

I jumped back into things this week. I was supposed to start Week 5 last Sunday but wasn't really feeling it. But I'm back on track know and let me just say, today's workout was great. I really worked hard! I did Chest, Shoulders, Triceps and I was so happy that there weren't so many push-ups. I was *extremely* proud of myself. When I started this I could barely eek out 2 push-ups. Now I can do 5 and 15+ modified (knees on floor). I can actually feel my core getting stronger which is making push-ups a much better feat. I also did Ab Ripper X and I'm pleased with how I'm far better able to keep up. Before I started the P90X routine, I did 20 minutes of cardio. So it was a super long workout and that is problematic since I don't have oodles of time but adding the cardio really and truly helps me to feel like I've worked out for real.

I am totally not in the mood today. I ran yesterday (which was supposed to be Chest, Shoulders and Triceps) so I was trying to do CST today but I just don't have any motivation to do it. (((sigh))) I wonder if I should take this week off (i.e. do other things).

How are you ladies doing?

I'm still truckin' along! Only 3 weeks left for me! I am really loving my results so far and hope to see more over the next few weeks...

I'm still here, this is my last week of Insanity. I've pretty much loved it, although my results as far as how I look are pretty lame. My fault for not dieting. I think I am in much better shape though. I'm kind of looking forward to Insanity ending so I can do some other type of workout and see if I rock it! I think Insanity has given me a lot more endurance. I'm also pretty psyched to have followed through and made it. I only missed one workout, and it was a recovery workout that I will make up at the end.

Congrats on finishing! Next week is my last of P90X. I am amazed at the results in such a short time - I wish I would have taken the initiative a long time ago.

I have been thinking of doing a round of insanity, mainly for maintenance and to increase my endurance and stamina.

Hi ladies

I'm on my first week of Insanity... loving it so far! I have P90X and I'm thinking of doing that when I'm done with Insanity.

Wow! Hi everyone! Its been forever since I've been on Mothering and just found this thread. I do turbo jam and chalene extreme. I cannot wait for turbo fire to come out on the 18th. I think after that I want to try insanity and maybe a hybrid of p90x. My husband does p90x but I started with chalene extreme because I was soooo weak. lol

Nice to see everyone!

I just started P90X (day 4) and I am loving it. I was lucky enough to have the program freecycled to me. I'm finding it extremely challenging, but doable. The arm and shoulders workout yesterday seemed light to me - all those baby/toddler lifts - and I'm not sore at all today. I guess I need to get some heavier free weights. Plyo nearly broke me, tho. I'm still hurting. My biggest hurdles so far seem to be managing the workouts with 2 kids using me like a jungle gym and eating enough to keep my energy up. Hmm. I don't know if I can keep up this pace with a tight grocery budget; the diet calls for a heck of a lot of food and no cheap filler. Hopefully the fact that I'm not eating any junk food will free up some cash. Anybody trying to do this with very little wiggle room in their budget for supplements and extra groceries?

Yay, day 89 here! I graduate tomorrow. It has been a long 3 months, but totally worth all of it.

I ended up spending over double my normal grocery budget per month during this program. I had no idea it would be that much, and that part was very discouraging for sure.

^^^Many congratulations!!! It's a huge accomplishment!

I had to stop P90X . . . it was just too much of a time committment especially when I added the time it took to change around my weights (I have loose weights and threaded bars). I am going to buy these and re-start P90X in a few months. I do have Chalean Extreme and it doesn't take as much time to complete each day. I've been doing that but I haven't been following the program straight because I definitely need lots more cardio.

Anyone else totally excited about Turbo Fire coming out next week? Between that and the Toy Story 3 release its like a national holiday in our house. lol

We have a tight grocery budget and find it a lot easier now that we can buy things in season and local...have you tried your local farmers markets? Often they have better prices than grocery stores.

I know the saying I like to remind myself if, pay now or pay later, lol, but of course that doesn't always work if the now is too tight! lol I just do the best I can being a SAHM w/3 our budget is strict.

I have found that by eating clean and not buying processed food or red meat it saves me more than when I was buying lots of meat and junk. Its just that it seems like my kids eat 4x more veggies than they ever did junk. hahaha thats a good thing though!

Thanks happymomma. I was hoping the money I spend on processed stuff would balance out the extra food I'd need. I'd almost forgotten about the farmer's market, and I should keep reminding myself that soon I'll have more veggies than I can handle from my own garden as well. And soon my backyard chickens will be laying, so hopefully that will keep the food costs under control. I can do this! I need to come up with some good, cost-effective lean protein sources, tho, or man am I gonna get sick of chicken.

Looked at the Turbo Fire advert . . . it actually doesn't look like something I'd like. I'm not interested in "music and moves" . . . kind of why I like Insanity. Just hard work and no extra stuff. And HiiT is not necessarily a new concept. It's what P90X and Insanity does . . . I guess I don't see why it's the "ultimate" program.

Sorry to be a debbie downer . . . just had two wisdom teeth removed.

Aw man! Sorry to hear about your teeth! Ouch!

Its not a new concept at all...just looks like fun. She uses HIIT on chalean extreme as well.

I hope you feel better soon! I am such a wimp with pain. I still have my wisdom teeth and hope it stays that way. lol
