Lightheaded

Just wanted to know if it is 'normal' to feel lightheaded in the first trimester? What causes this? I am feeling light headed very often, for entire chunks of the day. I tend to have low blood pressure--could this factor in? Blood supply is already increasing a bit by 6 weeks, right? I don't recall ever feeling dizzy or lightheaded with my boys. Thanks all. All of my pregnancy books are loaned out at the moment.

very much so!
I have low blood pressure (anything under 80/50 puts you at risk for blacking out but even 90/60 could have you fainting) and deal with this as well... it helps to drink more water and get more sodium in my diet.

Thank you! I was beginning to worry a little. My blood pressure yesterday the top number was about 100, and I cant remember the bottom one. But my heart feels like it's pounding a bit (not fast, though). I have definitely been drinking more, but forgot about the sodium thing. With my other pregnancies the first months were a total salt fest because of what I was craving, so maybe that is why I didn't feel so dizzy then. I will crack open a bag of chips right now.

I had the pounding heart problem with DD... which was when my doctor told me that with my blood pressure levels, cutting out sodium is actually bad for me and I need more than a non-pregnant woman would.

My lightheadedness was not as severe as yours, but it definitely was present during the 1st trimester. I had no idea to expect it, and I came very close to falling flat on my face when I jumped out of bed at 6 weeks pregnant or so.
