I don't understand how this man is related to your DH? Is he your DH's biodad? If he is or isn't, why isn't your DH outraged at his treatment of you and your DD?! I would not let my baby be around that man if I was there or not. It is completely inappropriate and abusive. You absolutely did the right thing to get you and your DD out of there. And boo hoo to your DH if he didn't want to sleep alone - he should have been the one leading you all out the door. No one should live like that!

NNM took the words out of my mouth. How is it your DH stands by day after day allowing his parents to treat you and his daughter in this fashion???? This shouldn't be your fight to fight alone. He should be taking the lead on this. His parents; his problem.

If I were married and my husband wasn't defending our family's boundaries, I'd make other living arrangements with our child and he could do whatever the hell he wanted.

Wow, that's really horrible! You definitely did the right thing getting out of there. I would think that living in a tent under an overpass would be preferable to that situation! Sheesh! But yeah, what's up with your husband's attitude about it? Does he not have to be there as often as you, maybe? Or did he grow up with this man and just learned how to tune it out? Or maybe figures that if he grew up OK in that environment, then his daughter should be OK too?
