Homeschooling right for us?

Hi there.
I'm looking for some feedback and to get to the heart of the matter as to WHY some of you homeschool... and how you balance your own personal time to recharge.
I homeschooled my 6th grade son for the first time this year, due to our relocation. I expected it to only be for the year, but my son prefers it.
There have been challenges, as well as magical moments. My main concern with questioning this journey ahead is if I can handle it. My inner most being thrives on balance, and I'm feeling the effects due to the lack of it.
The only other homeschoolers near us are doing it for religious reasons, which I sincerely respect. But I would love to connect with other like minded people. (I was a Doula and Yoga Instructor prior to this new venture.)
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Best to you!

Reading through some of these might be helpful, or these.

Or the flipside:

I recently joined a gym with childcare so that I can have time to myself without kids. I also occasionally take classes (junior college, adult ed., etc) for fun.

Perhaps organize a group in your area for like-minded homeschoolers? Maybe there are others lurking out there waiting for someone else!
