she had banana a few days before she was 6 mos and it gave her horrible indigestion. we're on rice cereal because it's what was suggested as it is what is given for reflux ( she's a bit of a spitter). she loves it...go figure.

we just tried squash tonight and she cried when it was gone!

We started by letting her play with broccoli. The first food she went for with gusto was lasagna.

DS was avocado at 5 months and then rice cereal at 6 months.

DD was avocado at 5 months and sweet potato at 6 months.

Of course, their first "meals" were no more than tastes (a tsp. at the most) of either food until they were almost 7 months. My DD at 9.5 months now will eat anything and eats more than my 6yo sometimes!

The first food he would reliably pick up and put in his mouth and be upset if I took away from him was melon, around 4.5 months. It's still one of the only solid foods he's interested in once he gets it in his mouth. We give it to him very rarely (maybe once every 2-3 weeks) but he looooves it.
