Dr Sears recommend sling...safe?

We have used almost every baby carrier on the market and the Infantino was by far my DD's favorite. Now to look at it it makes me ill. I just threw it in the trash five minutes ago!
I am so disapointed and the thought that I was putting my DD in danger makes me want to cry.
I do have to say that we used the carrier with the New Native sling pillow for infants because I was concerned about the "C" positioning and her breathing. We never had any issues (thank goodness) and now she is way past the age of laying in a sling.
We have the Dr. Sears approved bag sling (Balboa Baby) right now my DD sits up in it and loves it, but with our next I was planning on using it like the Infantino. Wondering if I should stick to the upright positioned carriers.

Personally, I loved my kangaroo korner adjustable pouch with my baby in a tummy to tummy position like this: http://www.kangarookorner.com/wearin...ringPouchTummy
Her head/face would peek out the one side and it still supported her head a bit. I tucked a rolled up cloth diaper or thin blanket behind her head.

or, i hate to say it, but i used the bjorn which i had from my first up until she got big enough for her legs to start dangling.

A lot of people like a stretchy wrap for the beginning. It took me a about a month to love it.

The balboa baby isn't a bag sling like the infantino, and if she can sit and control her head she's not at risk of breathing issues in the sling, either.

It IS closer to the infantino than I'd like (I really prefer un-padded slings like my Maya Wrap and my Taylormade batik sling), but if you carry a newborn in a position like this http://www.amazon.com/Balboa-Baby-Ad...8511554&sr=1-9 it should be fine (instead of reclined, and way down near your waist.)

I don't think it's quite a bag sling but I also don't think it's a very easy sling to get a good newborn position in. That Amazon link shows an older baby, but I have tried positioning a newborn in a Balboa Baby and I personally think it's risky. It's really not easy to adjust and the shape and padding make it very easy for a baby in a cradle position to be dangerously positioned.

Thanks everyone. I really like that Kangaroo Wrap, I may try that one next time around.
