When did she reach her birth weight, Mama? How much is she gaining a week? You'd expect a 5-7 oz weight gain per week at this age. So if your DD regained her birthweight by 14 days, then you would expect 40-56 oz weight gain in the following 8 weeks ( calculated that baby is 10 weeks old now?)

So, if my calculations are correct, your baby has grown 36 oz in 8 weeks. That is on the low side, but there are plenty of steps to take before introducing formula as a supplement! Moms can work to increase their supply (see the low supply sticky in this forum); a visit with a good IBCLC can rule out latch and milk transfer issues (for example, a tongue-tie); etc.

For example, when you are nursing baby (not at night, but when you are both awake ) do you do breast compressions? That can help with milk transfer. See: http://www.nbci.ca/index.php?option=...lips&Itemid=13

s I'm in a very similar situation, and I understand how you're feeling. I don't have a lot of advice besides what PatioGardner has said. Start with a good IBCLC. I take herbs to keep my supply up, but it sounds like you have a pretty decent supply, if you get 4 ounces each time you pump. Keep posting here - people have been very supportive and helpful. Take care! s
