Pumping-the leats sexy thing you've ever done?

Does anyone else feel, while pumping, that there is no single other thing you could do to be less attractive? I mean, the boobs, being sucked like a milk cow... the shirt pulled up... the stretch marked belly hanging out... sorta hunched over to see if it is still dripping... the loud noise (at least on my pump) so you can't even blend into the back and not draw attention to yourself... just AH!

I always tried to think of it as being such a wonderful thing for my babies that I never cared how attractive it was.

I'd have to say I agree with you. Actually it explains why I was so self-concious about pumping around DH, never really analzyed the why I guess.

I love BFing and it just feels so totally natural, but I hate pumping because it just seems so UNnatural. Moo. But I'll do what I have to do to keep the supply up...

lol yup... for most of us it needs to be done at least sometimes, but it is my least favorite part of bfing!

Nope.

Yelling "QUICK QUICK GET THE PUMP" as I spray 5' across the room and the baby screams because she can't latch is *much* more unsexy.

Yes but WHAT a supply ey? I too can shoot my bazookas like water cannons. I bet the police could use them in a pinch to break up a riot...

I just asked my DH the other day, I bet you never thought me whipping out my boobs so much could never be so unsexy! On the other hand, I cut holes in my bra for the nipple shields, now when I leave those in I can do a great Madonna imitation!

Totally! I got a slightly different perspective on it yesterday, however, when I witnessed my almost-four-year-old DD "pumping" for the first time. (I had to pump for a couple days when I came home from the hospital, to top off my sleepy baby who wasn't staying awake long enough for a full feeding.) She told me she prefers to put her milk into a bottle for her doll. It was pretty cute when she did it!

Slightly off topic...I also found some moments of childbirth to be the most incredibly unsexy events to occur while naked.

: Plus, nursing is usually fun for me! I get to see DS, listen to the newest boob song he invented, relax and enjoy my son!

Pumping.... especially while nursing, is the least relaxing thing I can think of.

My DH thinks the pump looks like a medevil torture device. Since I EP for DD (she has a g-tube and can't take feeds orally), I have gotten used to it. However, I do have secret thought of attaching DH to the pump on occasion.

i'm glad to hear i'm not the only one who feels this way. i hate pumping. i won't pump around dh for some reason. i know it sounds weird, but i can't. luckily i only have to do it once a day!

I never minded pumping, but I didn't want DH to see. He didn't particularly want to see either - he would make a face and say it looked really weird, and like it must hurt.

He thought it was really cool that all the milk in the fridge and freezer came from my body though !

I have so had this moment haha.

And yes, I feel the same. When I nurse DS, I feel beautiful and serene... when the pump is involved, I feel, well, like a milk cow.

DH finds it pretty facinating to 'listen'. I use a manual pump, so you can clearly hear my milk streaming into the pump. For some reason he always listens and comments on it. Like, "Wow, I can HEAR how much milk is coming out"

Yes, hunnie, just like last time lol. And yet he still acts shocked and terrified when DS chokes on the let down, for like the 200th time.
