We've had lots of bumps on the head here but my 13 mo old just fell off a chair about 1 hour ago and now she just konked out. asleep. 7 PM usually goes to bed at 8-8:30-9 at the latest.
she is reacting when we bother her but absolutely konked out

Advice please??????

Funny how they always like to konk out after a good bonk on the head, isn't it? I have three kids and I've had this happen many a time. The konking out in itself probably isn't cause for concern alone, unless it is totally unresponsively. Did she have a good cry after falling? That is usually why mine have fallen asleep afterward. Anyways, I had a mild concussion once as a kid. At the school playground I was beginning to climb up the slide steps and a boy at the top decided to jump down. His head hit mine. About an ?hour? later, I vomited. A lot. For hours. I was a bit out of it. He did chip my tooth too, lol. That's pretty much all I remember about the experience.

This just happened to us yesterday...my 13 month old fell off a stool and hit her head (and bit her tongue so hard the ER thought she was going to need sutures...thank goodness she didn't!). We went to the ER after she started staring straight ahead for 20 minute (very unusual) and her eyes started rolling to the back of her head and then she fell asleep and we couldn't wake her up. She's fine, thank goodness! The hospital said she was just reacting to the pain by zoning out.

They looked at her pupils to see if they were the same size and shook her back and forth (not hard enough for shaken baby syndrome...just took her arms and chest and jerked them back and forth) to get her to wake up. They said if she was not vomiting and didn't pass out for any amount of time, it likely wasn't a concussion. So, I guess the signs would be passing out for even a very short time, vomiting, uneven pupils, and a personality change (unusually lethargic or unusually feisty...)

Yikes, what an unpleasant memory!

I think she's fine. She did have a pretty good cry. She konks out like that a lot too, more than my ds, so I don't really know why I freaked out. But she is very responsive, just really tired. Poor girl. Trying to sleep and her parents are yipping and yapping trying to wake her up.

Oh my goodness Allyrea!!!!!!!!!!!
So sorry you had that experience! I think I would just freak out!
Glad your dd is ok.

I posted here because I couldn't get through to my mom-in-law. she's done day care for 27 years so I normally call her for things like this. She said basically what you're saying. unresponsive, pupils dialated, the bumps going in
