what multi-vitamin do you feel good about -- and your toddler will take?

We were giving DD (27 months) Solgar liquid multivitamins, and for a while she loved it, but recently started refusing to take it. I'm thinking maybe now she'd do better with something she can chew.

If you have one that you feel good about what's in it AND your toddler will take it, I'd love some recommendations!

i get the generic gummy multis from the store. the kids love them and they dont cost too much.

In our family, we supply our child with a well rounded and nutritious diet where all the food groups are balanced and represented...I suggest you do the same!!!

He doesn't eat any of it so we go with the generic gummies , too

Ha! Bea, loved your answer. When i read the top i though, well I do the same but my son refuses half of it, and then saw the bottom part. funny.

We are currently using rainbow light nutra stars. DS really likes them.

Bea, DP and I are ROFL!

The situation sounds extremely familiar!

Bea -

At what point is a gummy not a choking hazard? I kinda think DD could handle it at this stage - she doesn't have ALL her teeth, but I feel more confident she could handle it since she got her "fangs" & 1st molars.

Curious what other folks are giving their toddlers...

Bea... i love you.

i got some from trader joes, the more chalky chewable ones, they are in a "honey bear" shaped container, mostly vitamins and some gummy ones tgat are more "minerals" but have calcium and vit d.

we rarely remember to give them to him although he likes them A LOT, so maybe he takes them 2x a week

Curious if anyone on here has tried the rainbow lite omega gummies? I saw them on sale at my local health store...but sale is such a subjective word for rainbow lite haha.

I just got ds started on The Yummi Bears Multi Vitamin and Mineral by Hero Nutritionals recently because he's on a vegetable strike and is really sensitive to fruit. They had a large selection of them at our local hfs. ds didn't like it at first, so I waited a week and tried again. Now he gobbles them down and begs for more. They are gummies, but he does really well with them- he is still cutting 1 year molars, so almost 12 teeth. I wanna say they were 11 or 12 dollars for a bottle of 90. I've been giving him two a day.

Has anyone actually studied labels or read reviews or anything to know if any specific types are supposed to be better than others nutritionally?

I'm hoping someone will save me from having to do my own research...

we give half a flintstones chewable because it was the only brand i could find in the grocery store that had iron in it. (half a tablet is what it says on the package to give until age 4) we also give cod liver oil for vit d.

I do the Rhino Vitamins(the sour kind). They work pretty well.

Bea--me too.

Also, I am still nursing both of them and I eat a balanced diet...maybe I should start taking vitamins instead.

we use these & also the DHA ones from the same brand... dd loves them & I like what's in them.

I looked into the "healthy" brand of gummy vitamins (I think it's Gummyvites or something like that) available through our co-op, and at the one available at WalMart (Lil Bear), and didn't find enough of a difference in ingredients to make it worth the difference in cost. It's been awhile though, so I can't remember specifics, just that it really didn't seem cost effective for the difference. We started with just the multivitamins, and now he takes the omega 3s (which still taste too fishy to me), and vitamin D as well. And honestly, I take them too if I really don't feel like taking my prenatal - they really are quite tasty. We have to field alot of "May I please have my gummy bears for the day?" with the answer that he's already taken them, and has asked to take them another three times that day already.

I think it says they're suitable for kiddos age two and above. My son (who is three) had a tooth pulled and has a spacer in, so isn't supposed to have gummy things - I just told him to chew on the other side of his mouth, since I had tried so many other brands of vitamins first and this is all he would take. If you make sure to give your kiddo one at a time and supervise the chewing, I think you'll be fine.

We use Dr. Greene's vitamin drops for Toddlers. Just put 1.0 ml in her juice every AM. I got it mainly because I was concerned about vitamin D (she's fair so always is covered up or in sunscreen, we live in Northeast, she doesn't really drink much fortified milk anymore, etc.) She doesn't even notice--and besides, I have a major choking phobia so *I'm* not ready for the gummy style.....yet.

We've been using gummy ones from Whole Foods. She loves them, starting about 18 months she gets one each of Vit d and DHA. You give more as they get bigger.

Problem I found is that gelatin has MSG in it. She's never had MSG....why is that in gelatin?

I would like to find a different type.

whole foods has a pectin vitamin that doesn't have gelatin:

we do that or nordic naturals berries. Right now we have Rhino beanie vites. Those are all gelatin free.
