are gummies supposed to be bad for their teeth?

We do the gummies, started at about 20 months. I cut them in halves or quarters. She thinks she's getting more (very exciting!) and I don't worry about choking.

There actually ARE difference's between brands. Some have too much vit A or Iron and some a not bioavailable at ALL! I borrowed a book from my friend who is a holistic nutritionist and this book compared diff. brands of childrens vitamins (both Canadian and usa). Basically anything like Flintstones or genreic (that you get a drug store) are terrible. NOt only do they have artificial colors and flavors but they are not bioavailable to the body . The hero vit. also rated poorly- most if not all gummies did. We do Douglas laboratories which rated one of the highest as is SISU.

Okay, so what about a vit for my 1 yr old? He doesn't have molars yet, so can't do a chewable, but he spits out any liquid vit I try to give him. He won't drink juice or milk (besides mama's), only water from a sippy... am I just screwed until he can chew?

We have health things going on and the kids get lots of supps. Before they could swallow pills (which for my son happened around 3.5yo), I'd open a capsule and either mix it into juice, or hide it in between layers of applesauce, just one bite off a spoon.

Thorne is a brand available lots of places online, the forms of vitamins and minerals are generally quite bioavailable, and they have real folate instead of folic acid, which is very important for some people. They have a kids' multivit in very small capsules, and either those could be opened and hidden in an applesauce bite, or an adult multivit could be used--since the adult Basic Nutrients are 6 capsules per dosage listed on the website, that would be easy to scale down. With such a small dose, that's pretty cost effective.

Another choice, if you want a chewable, is Perque...

They have more zinc than many others, a mineral people are more likely to be low in, forms of vitamins and minerals are generally good, though the folinate they list isn't as useable as the 5-mth folate that Thorne has (there are licensing issues, but Thorne isn't the only company with 5-mth folate).

naturamart.com sells them.

Just coming back to report that I decided on Animal Parade chewables for DD. One has probiotics, vitd, calc and zylitol and one is a digestive enzyme mix. They both tasted "good" to me and DD likes them. No common allergens.

If anyone finds anything detrimental about animal parade, please post.

ETA: here's a link about them:
