Sudden change in my toddler's birthmark??

I'm not sure if this is the right sub-forum to post this, but I thought I'd check to see if any other mums (or dads) have had this happen to their child... my dd2 will be 3yo next month. She's always had a small 'stork bite' on her forehead. Over the past couple of days her stork bite has gotten much larger, darker and is a different shape. I don't think she bumped her head or anything like that, and it doesn't seem to hurt her if I gently press it...

Has anyone else had this happen with their child? Do you think I should be concerned?

My DD has a large stork bite as well and is just about to turn three. It has not changed a bit from the day she was born (despite the assurances of everyone that it would fade before she turned one). Sometimes it does get darker when she is mad, feverish, crying, etc. It has never changed shape though, are you sure about that?

Should you be concerned? I have no idea. If it really has changed shape I would keep a close eye on it. Take a headshot picture and compare it to one from a year ago. If you think it is continuing to change then take another pic and make an appointment to see your GP. A storkbite is a mass of bloodvessels close to the surface of the skin right? So if you see it changing then there may be something going on that you want looked into. I could be absolutely ntohing though. Maybe someone else can weigh in for you, but that is my two cents!

It would be something I would at least call your peds office and see what they say. I doubt it is anything but any time a mole or body mark changes it should be checked out for sure.

I'll give it a week, just in case it is some sort of bruise or injury, and then have the doctor check it out.
