need suggestions for burn on bottom

DD2 burned half of her bottom this morning on our gas fireplace. She climbed up on the hearth and bent over. It is a second degree burn, I've got the wound care covered, Silvadene cream, and we need to go back in Monday for the doc to remove more of the blisters. What I am lacking is practical suggestions for living with a burn on a 3 year old's bottom. Sitting down of course hurts, sitting in the car, she want to play and jump around which then doesn't feel that great. When she broke her clavicle last year, she was on codeine for a while which slowed her down and made her more likely to sit still, Tylenol seems to be covering the pain of the burn so far. I am expecting as it starts to dry out more then the pain will increase so we might have to break out heavier meds then but we've had to use codeine so much on her and even one dose gives her constipation so I hate to go there until we have to.

We put her in pull ups for some extra padding on the butt, and to use as a dressing since the regular dressings where not working due to the area. We will have to go in the car which will prove to be interesting. I padded her wooden chair at the table and have been trying to get her to lay on her stomach on the couch but that is about all I have got

Any thoughts on things that might make my life easier until she heals?

Sadly I literally just have a little one with almost this same exact issue. The little girl was burned pretty badly and initially the doctors were talking about skin grafts.

I suggested alternating homeopathic cantharis and hypericum-both at 30C-and spraying calendula succus on the area (which was her whole bottom.)

Things have progressed beautifully, and when I last saw her bottom you'd have no idea that she was just burned a few weeks ago. She is healing great and the doctors are apparently in awe. They actually told her to continue with the calendula succus as it was doing so well, and supported her in use of the remedies because they clearly did work. She never, to my knowledge had any need to take pain killers.

She is now past the crisis point and we are looking at things which will prevent scarring now.

Thank so so much! I am going to head in to town after the baby wakes up form his nap so I'll swing by Vitamin Cottage as well. If you don't mind, let me know about things for scarring once you get it figured it out for for client, most of the burn looks "ok" for a second degree burn but there is a 2-3 inch long section that I am afraid will scar. It looks really bad and would like to prevent that for her if possible. Thanks.
