Raw buttermilk in fridge....how long?

We bought a gallon last time because we wanted to marinate meat in it (fried chicken is so much better this way!)

Anyway, we've had it for sometime (like, a month?) Is it still good? It's separated a bit but it did that a few days after purchase... I mean, it's basically soured milk right?

I would think if it still smells sour and not rotten it would be fine... If you can taste it and it doesn't taste "bad" then it's probably not.
