Red ring around baby's anus, am I eating wrong?

Sears' Baby Book only mentions citrus and wheat as likely culprits when the breastfed baby gets a red ring around his anus. Poor thing! From your experience, can anyone add to the list of foods I may be eating that could cause him to react that way? DS is 2 1/2 weeks old. I hate to think I already have to start monitoring my diet so closely! I'm already avoiding the most gas-inducing foods, but it seems there is something else I have to pinpoint now.

Thanks!

It could be a number of allergens. I would maybe start with the most likely culprits, dairy, soy and eggs, and just see what happens from there. You can try an elimination diet and see how you LO reacts once you reintroduce the suspected foods. I wish I would have taken notice earlier of my babes reactions. It turns out he had a dairy allergy that we finally realized when he was 6 months old, I always think that if I would have noticed sooner, it would have saved us a lot of hassle. Good luck!
