Hopefully, that all means labor is near! I go for a NST with the back-up midwife today and it's 5:30 am and I am awake. bleh.
Yes, they can drop during labor. It's more common after the first baby, but it even happens for first babies. That's what my DD did, and she was my first.

I'm here. I am 37wks and change, and I know no one wants to hear me complain, but I have been having ctx for weeks on end (bed rest) and I am really done. Saturday they were 6-7 minutes apart for hours and then fizzled out. *sigh*

At 37 weeks, have you been freed from bedrest? (seems pretty safe at this point?)

Wow! So if this baby doesn't drop, I won't be worried! Thanks for sharing that! I have had random people say to me "The baby hasn't dropped yet? That's strange!" and I just repeat what my midwife has said to me, but it leaves me feeling a little unsettled.

Hung out on my hands and knees last night with my exercise ball (found out yesterday that babe is slightly posterior). Then had very spicy Korean food for dinner. Told Sam, the restaurant's owner, that I'd give him a Facebook shoutout if his food sent me into labor!

Have a prenatal massage scheduled for this morning while DD1 is in Pre-K. YAY!!!

NST and biophysical profile this afternoon.

Lost my mucus plug today! I know it doesn't mean that I'm going into labor soon, but WHEE!!! I'm so proud of myself!!

I had my membranes stripped yesterday at my dr's appointment (with my permission). It didn't hurt, really. I mean, it didn't feel GOOD, but it wasn't any worse than an internal exam. I obviously didn't go into labor, so can't call it a success.

Right now, I am 75% effaced, 2 cm dilated, baby is at -2 station.

I swear, I felt closer to labor a few days ago. I was having BH type contractions but could feel them pulling/affecting my cervix, kwim?

The past few nights those have been happening less and less.

I am 39w2d. DS was born at 39w1d and DD at 40w2d (but just after midnight). Midwife's assistant lives close by and returns from vacay on friday, so the upside of waiting is she'll be back in town (which would be nice *just in case* things progress really fast since DD was a 3 hr labor).

It is so hard to keep my mind off of labor.

No bloody show or loss of mucus plug yet, but I didn't have that w/ either of my other 2 kids. I'd like *some* clue or hint though LOL!!

Sounds good! Seriously, I'd love to see some mucous plug this time around. I didn't ever see it w/ my other two kids. I am getting antsy for some clue that *something* will happen.

I swore I wasn't getting checked this time around (since I walked around for weeks 2-3 cm dilated/75-80%effaced w/ my oldest) but I have a midwife appt on Thursday at 39w4d and curiosity is building...

As far as checking my own cervix, I have not a clue. I've read the threads on trying to find it more posterior, etc. but I can't feel a gosh darn thing LOL. It is either waaaaay posterior, I have too small of fingers/hands, or there's nothing left LOL.

Same here. The last time I tried was maybe a week ago, and I could feel NOTHING. I've only tried twice, but both times were frustrating. lol

I just had the worst visit from my sister. I love my sister and would never have expected to have a bad visit from her, but it was TERRIBLE. We didn't fight or anything, but she didn't offer to help me with anything, didn't even put her own dishes in the dishwasher the whole time she was here - even after I cooked dinner last night while DH was at school. In fact, she didn't even eat in the kitchen with me and DD, but instead took her food into the living room so she could watch tv. It wasn't that I care about people eating in my LR or anything, but ummm, if you're company at my house and I'm eating in the kitchen with my daughter, shouldn't you join us? And if you don't, shouldn't you at least put your dang plate in the dishwasher when you're done? I honestly think her being here is what resulted in my leg swelling again. I was on my feet so much making sure things got done, and she wasn't helping. Yesterday she got in bed under the covers and played on her laptop for 3 or 4 hours, like she couldn't even be bothered to hang out with us. It's not like she couldn't do that in the living room where we were!

I ended up being GLAD I didn't have the baby while she was here, because I had thought she'd come to help out, but in the end it seemed like she just came so she could see the show, and my baby's birth is not a show for crying out loud! We didn't fight - it's nothing like that. It just made me soooo mad that she apparently didn't care to see any of us, but just wanted to see the baby being born. So I'm glad it didn't work out. Is that petty? lol

yeouch... sounds like a normal visit from my sister, but she would never want to come for the birth (she was skeeved out that I had the baby at home and wanted to know where I gave birth so she could avoid that area, last time. ).

Sorry it wasn't fun
Wow. Sorry about that, Plummeting. That would really bother me! I can't imagine that your baby would want to be born into that anyway. It would be so hard for me to labor peacefully with that sort of feeling around.

Yeah, it was pretty amazing that my BP readings changed so drastically while she was here. I knew BP was affected by stress (obviously, since I have the whole white coat hypertension thing) but I didn't think it could stay up consistently because of it, in an otherwise healthy, young person. I thought that was for old people or people with underlying health problems. My readings were 10-20 points higher every time I took it by the last day she was here. The first couple of days they were the same, but by the last day I was fed up. She left yesterday morning and by afternoon my BP was back to normal and has stayed that way.

well I had an appointment yesterday and after an entire weekend of major awful cramping that kept me up I found out that I am...

75% effaced, 1cm dilated, and the baby is at -1 station

I was relieved to find out that all the discomfort wasn't for nothing. At least from now on I will feel productive when I'm having horrible cramps.
I also got to feel the baby's head which was pretty awesome and surreal.
Hard little thing!

YAY!

I got the kids' stomach bug... so this morning, as I was puking my guts out while the baby pushed down on my bladder and made me pee all over the floor... I was basically just praying that the baby did *not* make an appearance today. Tomorrow? sure (seems to be a short bug), but not today!!

I'm so sorry your sister was such an awful guest.

The other day this woman told me a story like that. When she went into labor her mom drove in from out of town. She stayed at their house the whole time they were in the hospital. When they got home the place was a wreck. They had a newborn baby and her mom had left the kitchen and bedroom looking ransacked. She said her mom is usually a great guest and would normally never leave insane messes in her wake but for some reason chose the exact worst time ever to be a guest from hell.

My little sister is coming next week and I told her straight up that if she wanted to come she had to expect to be my total gopher/helper. I refuse to play host to anyone right now.

Oh honey... I had one 2 weeks ago- it is awful awful. Hope you feel better quick!

Yay for effacement and dilation, Ciga! My midwife told me that the crampy feeling is usually effacement and that she's much happier to see a woman go into labor effaced than dilated, if she has to choose one.

Oh no! That will be a funny story for later, but it must've been awful while it was happening. I hope you do feel better right away!
