tell me about the baby moving...and kick counts

So since this is my first and I am paranoid about everything, please tell me what I should be feeling at the 27-28 week mark. I read that the baby should be moving the most now that it will be moving. It was pretty crazy for a few days a couple weeks ago and then it seemed to settle down quite a bit. It's fairly consistently moving, but not often strong movements.
I also don't quite understand kick counts, do I count what I feel from the inside or what I feel from the outside? Does it have to be at the same time every day?

Kick counts aren't necessary unless you notice that you haven't felt movement lately... (or are in a high risk pregnancy) and how you count depends on who tells you but it seems the most common is feeling 10 movements (at all, inside or out doesn't matter) in 1 hour

Its not common to CONSTANTLY feel movement... there are certain situations you can provoke the baby to move if you start to get worried (drink a glass of OJ and lay down...) if you are up and moving around... baby tends to sleep (you are rocking it to sleep after all...) and some babies are just less active than others.

Also, do you know if you have an anterior placenta? (usually they will tell you this when you have an U/S) because that can cause you to feel less movement.

This is my 3rd pregnancy, and they've all been very different.

#1 moved about 10 times in a DAY. Yes, really. No, I wasn't crazy. No, I wasn't missing it or ignoring it (like all my providers thought). He really did move that little. He came out large, but just fine.

#2 moved a little more. It was easy to get 10 movements in 2 hours (the standard around here). He would move pretty consistently throughout the day, though there were quieter periods and more active periods. He was healthy, too.

#3 (I'm 25 weeks). This one moves A LOT. And the movement is much more in fits and starts. I might feel 10 movements in 10 minutes, and I'll get a very active 30-60 minutes. Then, I might go 6-8 hours without feeling anything.

I just chalk it up to different personalities, plus different lies inside my uterus.
