Improvised Infant Insert for Ergo anyone?

Just got my used ergo on ebay for a grrrreat deal!
I've got a sling I'm going to use for the babe when it's small, but DH wants to use the ergo. We don't have an infant insert, but looking at it, it seems like a very basic thing.

Anyone improvised an "infant insert" with the ergo? Used a towel or blanket to keep baby froggied up or something?

Nice to see both of you here. I haven't got any experience with improvised infant inserts, but as long as the fabric is sturdy enough, I think it is totally possible. Basically, I just wanted to congratulate you on your pregnancy, expat!

we used our ergo from day one, using a thick, sturdy flannel blanket folded into a 2x2 foot square. i put the babe on her back in a diagonal position on the blanket. then i picked up the two corners together that were at her sides so she was basically the filling of a blanket taco. i then set her in the ergo in a side saddle position so she was sitting upright with her bum and back aligned right down the center of me. the corner of blanket that stuck up behind her head could then be folded down to support her head.

i hope that makes sense.

congrats!
