SLC or UT Valley Hotel Recommendations?

We're going to UT for 2 weeks in late April/early May and will probably spend a week in downtown SLC and a week in UT Valley. I'd love to hear any recommendations for a hotel with mini-fridge or breakfast, or any hotels with good prices. I think a mini-fridge would keep our costs low . . . any other recommendations for fun things to do/places to eat would be greatly appreciated as well.

there's a chase suites (by woodfin i think?) on 7th east/400 south right on the trax line. affordable with kitchenettes, right on public transport, pool, etc. not sure if it's in the price range but I think it's worth it for extended stays.

there's tons to do, just depends on what you're in to! Personally I like getting outdoors, you might like a day trip to park city too.

I live in Daybreak and you'd love it here. Lots to do. Here's a listing in daybreak for a vaca loft rental http://www.vrbo.com/265916 .. Also our homeschool group meets often at the parks in daybreak, so you could meet up with us!

I also recommend looking at VRBO.com for a rental.. It would be cost effective to get a little condo to rent for that time. Other than that, I'm not really sure of where to do.. there are some Econolodges in the area that rent for about $150 a week.

P.S. did you pick a school to go to?

That rental in Daybreak looks awesome but we ended up going with regular hotels because there's me, my parents, and my 3 children (one is nursing all night long) so we needed 1 king + sofabed in our room.

We ended up at the Best Western City Center *which is owned by Comfort Inn as of today*, the Hampton Inn in Lehi, and Comfort Inn in Orem.

Anyone have good/bad reviews of those places?

Now for a minivan rental . . . traveling with so many people is really expensive!
