WWYD - sore throat going on a week

I've had a super sore throat that started around March 6 or 7. It also feels likes it's burning. Lots of chest congestion and coughing that hurts. I feel mostly miserable.

I've been trying the following things:
Bioplasma (cell salts), vit. D3 & CLO, emergen-c with 8-10 drops of grapefruit seed extract a couple times a day, trying to drink some water kefir, Echinacea/Elder tea with honey and 1 tbsp. CO, and I don't know what else.

IF it's strep, it would be the second time since December, which is weird for me. Before that, I hadn't had strep since I was a teenager...at least 20 years ago. What else would you do? It just isn't getting any better, only worse. I'm about ready to go get the strep test and get my antibiotics, as much as I hate them. I'm also almost ready to get my freaking tonsils out. They pretty much look like swiss cheese from all of the strep I had as a kid.

The worst part is, I think my youngest ds may be getting it too.

So, what would you do?

Had to offer my sympathies. I got strep in September...and again in January! Before that, I hadn't had strep since I was 5. Both times it was incredibly painful. Swallowing felt like someone was stabbing me in the throat, I couldn't even swallow my own saliva. The second time, I didn't even feel sick, other than the extreme throat pain (the first time, though, I felt very flu-like and lost my voice entirely, I could barely even squeak!)- I was still up and homeschooling my son, going through a full day's work. But peering down my throat with a flashlight, my tonsils were the size of golf balls and I'd never seen that particular shade of red before in my throat. The nurse midwife I saw even commented that my tonsils looked very "meaty." I wasn't wanting to go in at all, but my eyes were tearing up every time I tried to swallow, so I figured that I probably needed to be seen.

If I were you, I'd head in to the doctor. I don't like messing around with strep. I hope you feel better soon, sore throats are awful!

Crafty, thanks for the sympathy. I know of so many people getting strep this year, that haven't had it since they were kids. Or, kids that have had it 2 times.

I went ahead and made an appointment with my doctor. It's just been going on too long.
