Can we talk about cervical position for a minute?

Ok, I keep reading that the cervix starts out posterior but becomes more anterior for labor...

but i'm trying to figure out what that means. this says:
Quote:
Position refers to the positioning of the cervix. If the cervix faces front (anterior) it is more favorable, while posterior is less favorable.
Ok, so does "faces" mean the outside (vaginal) of the cervix facing front or the uterus side of the cervix? That is, if I were to reach up there and try and check, would a posterior cervix be found toward the front of my vagina facing backward or toward the back of my vagina going the other way? Maybe i'm over-thinking this? Anyone got a link to a good picture of this so I can get a better visual image?

Here is my understanding of posterior and anterior cervix position!

Anterior - if I reached in to check my cervix it would be pointing down toward the opening of the vagina and I could easily touch the opening without having to reach around.

Posterior - cervix opening can be felt by reaching around the cervix toward the back wall of the vagina. It would be facing the rectum.

No problem, hope I explained that correctly!

IME, when actually "feeling" it, posterior just means further back, harder to reach. I could usually "pull" it forward (anterior), but it got closer and easier to do the closer I got to labor. IN labor, fully anterior, I could just reach right up and there it was, no having to reach "back" at all.
