Tripp Trapp Chair, how long did your kids use theirs?

DD has been using a knock off of the tripp trapp chair, since we passed the original down to DS. I don;t really like the knock off, it is defiantly not as well made or nice to look at. However it did the job and I could not justify replacing it, till a couple of weeks ago it broke.

Now DD is 5 but she is not doing that well sitting on a dinning chair, yet her legs are to long for her to kneel. Should I look for another tripp trapp or will she be outgrowing it soon anyway.

How long did your kids use theirs? Would you buy one for a 5 yo?

DD (5.5) uses hers for crafting and any school work she wants to do at a table. We keep it in the craft room now. She hasn't used it at the table for eating for a while now.

At this age, I wouldn't get one just for eating, but I think she really likes it for the other activities. I am not sure I would get one now if I didn't already have it from when she was younger, though.

My 7 year refuses to give up her chair. I had to buy a new one for DS a couple months ago since she still wouldn't part with hers. We do all our crafts at the table, she eats in it, and in the summer when her therapist comes to the house instead of school, they use the chair as well. Her therapist is a stickler for correct writing position so she would have to have a chair like that but I had been hoping she could DD2's instead of owning yet another one, but no. I probably would buy one for a 5 year but then again my kids are apparently going to use theirs forever!

My son only used his for about a year. He didn't like it for some reason.

My parents got my older two kids (3 and 5) each one for their first birthdays. We're sort of hoping they'll maintain the tradition when our youngest turns one.
We love them--they're versatile and comfortable and nice to look at. It's something we plan to hold onto for our kids.

My 3-and-5-year-olds still use them, although we've temporarily commandeered the 5-year-old's for the baby (6 months). We have the little rail that fits on it, and it makes it a great way for her to join us at the table. For what it's worth, my son is also pretty comfortable sitting in a "regular" chair at this point--but he still chooses his TT if it's an option.

my almost 6 year old still uses hers. I am not sure if I would buy one for her now if we didn't already have it. She is ok in a booster seat at the grandparents. She got her's for her 3rd birthday.

dd2 is 2 1/2 and got her's before she turned 1.

You don't grow out of a tripp Trapp. That's the idea. The seat and footrest move so that it grows with you. Here they last forever, or until you redecorate. The kids use them, and when they are done the adults use them!

We have three children between 4 and 7 (almost 8) and have two Tripp Trapps. We still use them daily but the children choose where they are going to sit so it varies as to who actually sits in one on a day to day basis.

Any chance you could find one second hand on craigslist or something similar?

Yep. My DH's cousins in Germany are all still using theirs as teenagers.
