Does this make sense? Milk+sugar

Is there any reason that DD would react poorly (stomach-aches) to milk+sugar combinations, but not to either sugar or milk on its own? She's fine drinking milk, and fine with sweet treats. But, the minute she has chocolate milk or yogurt (not plain, obviously), she complains of a stomach ache.

Mostly just curious, but it'd be nice to be able to be more concrete about this so that I can know what to steer her away from.

I dont know. I know my mom will burn sugar in a pot and stir milk in to it and then drink it. She does this for a laxative effect. Maybe its the same thing.

mamafish9 just posted this today in another thread. Under #3 in Signs and Symptoms, there's this quote:

Also, certain foods may work synergistically, meaning they will produce symptoms when eaten together, but not when eaten alone (i.e. eggs and apples).

My only thought is from a traditional chinese medicine perspective, cold and sugar and dairy are all cold and dampening on digestion, TCM would say they aren't good for spleen qi (digestive energy), so if your DD's spleen qi is marginal, then the combination could be too much of a stressor all at once.

My DD is the same way.

I don't know what the answer is, but it seems to help DD if I suggest she eat/drink it slowly. I think when its sweetened, especially milk, she drinks it faster and the cold milk hitting her tummy so fast seems to cramp it.
