Breastfeeeding a sick little one

I have a quick question and I'm not sure if it belongs here or somewhere else. DD is 8 months old and she has been throwing up all morning. I'm pretty sure it is a stomach bug of some sort because her brother was like this last week. Anyways, I know that I should keep nursing her, but she throws up everytime I do so. Should I keep offering frequent, short nursings in hopes that she can keep down small amounts or let her nurse as often as she likes since that seems to be the only thing that is comforting her right now?

Dh is going to pick up some Pedialyte on his way home from work just in case I can't get her to keep breastmilk down. I really don't want her getting dehydrated and end up in the hospital.

Thanks for any advice.

We went through this recently. Short, frequent nursing is the info I found. It seemed to work. If he nursed for too long it came right back up. I hope your LO feels better soon! Breastmilk is the best thing for her right now, better than pedialyte.

We went through this when my DD was close to a year old. ITA with short, frequent nursing. LO will absorb some component of the BM before they vomit. My DD always preferred to vomit BM, as opposed to dry-heave or vomit any other substances.

Pedialyte is not as gentle on the tummy as breastmilk. It is full of artificial dyes and fake vitamins. I would not give it unless I was really desparate and about to take LO to the hospital.

I agree with the PPs. Best thing to do is keep breastfeeding.
