Trouble with Bummis and Booroi Covers

We started with the Bummis Whisper Wraps right after Milo was born. We use a regular Indian Prefold inside. They seem to work okay on the containment front and we can wash and dry them, but they cut into his thighs and leave uncomfortable looking red marks (and yes, i'm sure I have a big enough size). We try to put them on pretty snug to avoid leaks. The other problem I have with the Bummis is that you have to buy a new set at every different size.

I was frustrated that our local baby store only carried this one type of cover when I know there are myriad types available online. I got a tip from another mom to get the Booroi covers online. She said they had the multi-size snaps AND had really soft, comfy leg holes. She and the website I bought them from failed to mention that you cannot dry them. It says on the diaper to avoid direct heat! Well, I don't know about you other cd mommas, but I've got to be able to through everything in the drier with my busy schedule (not to mention I couldn't buy enough of them to have a dry one ready all the time, if I have to hang-dry them). So, what has happened now is I ignored the instructions and threw them in the dryer and they have lost their water-proofing, so now they soak through a lot easier

Basically I am left with putting a cover on DS that either leaves red marks around his legs OR using ones that don't have much soak-through resistance.

Can anyone help me find a diaper cover that:

1. Has mult-size snaps, so I don't have to buy a new set at every size

2. Does a great job of preventing soak-throughs

3. Can go in the dryer, no problem

4. Has comfy leg holes that don't rub on the skin

I don't mind buying them online, but I have to know that it is a good investment before i do so. I don't have tons of $$ to throw around on experimenting with diapers.

Thanks for any help!!

Thirsties Duos? They have a new version with snaps. I love mine!

I'm really happy with my Thirsties Duos, as well. We used size 1 thru about 15 lbs, then switched to the size 2. My babe is pretty chunky and we don't get red marks (well, we did once or twice that I remember when we had them on overnight so it had been on a long time, and probably tight...)

Wool (or fleece) is a nice option as far as being gentle on the legs, but it can be pricey.

I love my Flip covers! Soft, one-size, and affordable. It has wipe clean interior, so I typically use the same cover through 4-5 changes unless poo gets on it. I line dry mine, and they dry super-duper quickly, but they can go in the dryer, too. You could probably get away with only having two or three of these, and you're good to go. And Bum Genius has a coupon in Mothering this month -- order $10 of a bG item, get a free sized aio. My new pink Flip cover and free AIO came today!

The only covers that didn't leave red marks (or leak) on super-sensitive DD1 were Imse Vimse organic cotton. But they are sized, with velcro. The small size fits really well up to about 16 or 17 lbs though, so an average sized baby would get to about 6 months with them--DD2 wore smalls through 9 months as she's a pipsqueak.
