A friend is offering us her stand alone jolly jumper. I think my LO would like it (she's 4 months old, and loves to be held standing up; her legs are pretty strong, she can hold herself standing while holding hands only) but it looks big and bulky. We don't have much space. Plus that whole harness thing looks complicated. Is it worth it?

If you have limited space, I wouldn't take it. The kind that hangs in doorways is so much smaller. I personally try to limit the time they use that kind of thing, so it wouldn't be worth it to me. We have a narrow exersaucer in the bathroom for showers and bathroom breaks. He really loves that.

I just set up a hand-me-down jumparoo for my 5.5 month old, and she does like it. We didn't have it with my older dd, and we made out just fine. I did have an exersaucer in the bathroom for showering, though. I really don't like the baby gear to take over the house, but it is nice to have somewhere to put her where she will be upright and happy while I run to the bathroom. She's starting to roll all over the place. We have a 5.5 yo and we aren't used to LO being able to move, so it helps while we get used to making sure the big girl toys stay off of the floor.
For some reason the doorway ones make me nervous. I do think I prefer an exersaucer because they are more stable for baby and easier to move around. But we figured it was free and it will only be taking up space for a short time, so we might as well set it up. It's been a little less than a week, and I guess I am still undecided. I think I have to set up the exersaucer and compare.

we have a doorway one which is cool but the standalone ones are way jumpier and i think probably easier for a 4 mo. i have a strong 6mo and she's not really that bouncy in the doorway. but i've seen babes go craaaazy in the stand alones. i'm alMost thinking about borrowing one just for the extra fun.
i also hate having tons of baby gear. but you could always get rid of it if it's not worth it (but i have a feeling it might be!)
