tooth eruption order (or, is she gonna get her right lateral incisor?)

my DD is 21 months old and is currently cutting her first canine (upper right). looks like the lower right canine might be just under the gum, so maybe coming soon. the issue is that she's still missing her right lateral incisor. she's teethed in a weird order in general--she got one bottom incisor, then one top incisor, then a few months later the next bottom, followed eventually by the next top. at 14 months she cut her two bottom lateral incisors, and the left top lateral incisor. at about 18 months she cut 4 molars in succession, and last week she cut her first canine.

but there's still no sign of that right lateral incisor. my dentist looked at her teeth in september when i got a cleaning, so that was when she was about 15 months old, and said everything looked fine--they're all coming in straight and in the right place, and he said there is no "normal" order.

still, she cut the other lateral incisor 7 months ago, and now she's got the canine on the other side of the gap, and i'm beginning to think it's just not coming.

well, i'm tired and this is longer than it needs to be. sorry!! i'm just wondering if anyone has had a kid get a tooth so far out of order, if it came eventually, or what. i'm not taking her for x-rays over this, so it's just a matter of curiosity.

thanks!

You know, it hasn't even been that long, but my memory is already fuzzy. I do recall DS getting his third of fourth teeth in, in a "not normal" order, and yes, they eventually came in and fit perfectly fine.

My son's almost 19 months and he's still missing his bottom lateral incisors. He has 6 teeth on top and 4 on the bottom inclusive of the molars. His ped didn't seem to worried and my bff who's a ped dentist said it's normal for teeth to come in out of order. I'm not sure at what point to get x-rays though.

that sounds normal to me. My DD (19 months) is working on her third and fourth premolars (the top ones) right now but still hasn't cut any of her bicuspids! She did get all the incisors before the molars started coming up, but there are now little gaps in all four "corners" of her mouth :P
