last saturday at busch gardens

we were there from about 11-8pm. i kept count...4 babies in slings, one baby being lovingly bottle-nursed by his/her daddy, one teeny tiny one being nursed by the mom in the nook in the ladies room, all turned to face the wall and looking very uncomfortable on the hard wooden chair, and then finally, right around dinner time, outside the Desert Grill, there it was! a larger looking baby with his/her mama, nursing away in public!

thanks for making my day, whoever you are! you totally made up for the nasty lady who yelled at me in line for the train after i pointed out that she and her whole group had cut me in line. LOL

Very awesome . I think in our area (I'm in Pinellas) it's becoming *close* to a norm to see mothers nursing in public Every time we go to Largo park, I see woman nursing their babes, oh and Clearwater beach. It seems to only be in this little circle though... I didn't see any mamas NIP at Disney

Honestly, it's for people like the mom in the bathroom that I nurse in public. I keep hoping that maybe, one day, there will be the mom that's headed to nurse in some uncomfortable cranny that will see me NIP and go, "Well, she's doing it!"

I was at the zoo the other day with DS in the Ergo, nursing as usual And I saw a mom in a wrap (a different sight all together) with a nursing cover on I figured it was for her comfort, but I was so excited.

Cool! We were at Disney recently and DH saw a baby in a sling, being nursed. I also saw one in a mei tai, not nursing at the time, though. Another time, I used the mama's room in the Magic Kingdom (DD was very distractible and we were there to change diapers anyway) and there was one mama with a wrap and another who was pumping for her 1 year old who wasn't there with her. I was surprised I had the youngest baby (6 months at the time). I haven't personally seen anyone NIP there, but I've done it a bunch of times, and at BG too.

I always nurse my DD right out in her mei tai Or sitting on the benches at Disney! I even let a mama know she did not have to go to a bathroom stall to nurse I told her how I double layer my tank and tshirts. She was really impressed! We've been to Disney the past 2 weekends I don't even think anyone knew I was nursing..except maybe another nursing mama!

Hmmm... I nursed a 2 year old all over Disney without issue, but that was a few years back. I don't specifically remember seeing anyone else, but I wasn't given any hassle/evil eyes anyway. I did have my mom and my MIL with us who are bf advocates, so if there were looks, they probably stared 'em down before I saw.

When we get a new trip planned, I'll probably be nursing a 3 yo, but I think that might be much less in public given his infrequency now. He wants the bedroom quiet and the door shut.

I nursed a 4 mon old all over Disney; no prob. Only been once with kids. May go back again in a couple of years, but my current baby will probably be done--I usually stop between 2 and 3 year.

That is so awesome! I love it!

I can also relate to the comment about NIP v. the bathroom. I have often NIPed my 5 month old, though it took some getting used to at first. I quickly found that I needed to make it about my comfort and my baby's comfort. So far, I have not had any rude comments, and I nurse her everywhere I go. A few curious looks, but I welcome those if it helps promote breastfeeding.

I recently got a new perspective on the nursing in the bathroom though. We took at trip to Texas to the HOuston Livestock Show and Rodeo. My daughter had a ball, but wouldn't nurse because of all the distractions. I tried over and over again, but sounds would distract her and she wouldn't nurse. I finally had to retreat to the bathroom where there was nothing interesting for her to see/hear. By that time though, I had tried to nurse her all over the convention hall....so I guess I had accomplished at least a little NIP type lactivism in the process, or so I hope. Special thanks for the kind ladies at info booth who were especially helpful and offered me a place to sit and nurse...but that still was too much distraction for my little one!

Sadly, I am more of an online example for extended nursing since my nearly 4yo rarely nurses anymore.
