What do you knit for boys

I have no clue. I don't want to make a vest. I don't want to make a cardigan or sweater or hat. It's starting to warm up here. I have two boys. ONe 21 months and one that will be 7 in a month, but he still wears size 5. I have quite a bit of this yarn. http://www.berroco.com/shade_cards/comfort_dk_sh.html

I'm making ds some shorts out of washable linen. Using a longie pattern and making the legs shorter. Of course you could do this w/ cotton too. I think acrylic blends might be a touch warm in the natural state's summers.

no vest, cardigan, sweater or hat? Um...how about a toy? Lots of super cute toys, I love Itty Bitty Knits!

If socks are your thing, that yarn would prob be great for little boys' feet.

I have made toys, slippers and hats for my son. He is very hard on socks so I pass on those and I will wait until he stops growing to make him a sweater He loves the hats I make for him - but we live in an area with long winters so they get lots of use.

Sleeves (like leg warmers for arms) that can go on or off in fickle spring weather or when the warmer days cool down in the evening. "Adventure" bags with a strap to collect rocks or to keep supplies.

I've only made toddler-sized things, but I did size this vest up - it's originally 0-6 month sizing:

It was a quick and fun knit!

Here are some favourites I have bookmarked:

I've knit this Sleuthing Hoodie for a friend's son. Very nice knit.

I otherwise mostly knit longies and shorties for my son and that takes up most of his knitting time. I did just knit him a raglan, which I love. No pattern, just a v-neck in licorice twist, hand dyed with indigo (not by me, though!).

He does get a lot of compliments in his Baby Rollin'.

I do have these queued for him:

Liam
Skater Baby
Snug (I'd have to size this up)

And for my nephew: Web Spinner

Mainly I would knit hats and I did. But I would also knit up some soakers (longies to use a pants)I would knit a fae folk hat http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fae-folk-hat
and a sweet baby cap http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/libr...ap---djevellue and a bucket hat-- I like little turtle knits pattern.

I'm wanting to make something for my ds... maybe some toys. Would really like to find a pattern for a pillow with a dinosaur on it, or a circular knit pattern and make him a ball pillow.
I think the idea for a "treasure bag" sounds fun

I'm in the same predicament. It's hard to find things to knit for boys, especially when they get older. I have 3 boys and all are too old for soakers and longies in wool. I've made several hats that the older teen guys like but the younger ones not so much. Actually, my 2yo loves the hat I made him. We live in a warmer climate so I don't make many hats or sweaters and we don't do vests. Those things just don't get worn much. They love toys. I made my middle ds chainmail when he was 5. He loved it and an older boy, 11yo, who saw it asked me to make one for him. His dad said he liked it so much he didn't take it off all day. Knitted Chainmail There's a pattern on Ravelry for light sabers. Soft, cuddly blankets are nice.

I made stripped mittens for my toddler ds. He wouldn't keep normal mittens on because he couldn't move his hands well enough. But he loved the wool ones I knitted for him.

I haven't been working on much for DS1 lately, because he generally doesn't like anything I make for him, and won't wear it!

My son is 9 and he loves blankets. I just posted over in what do you knit for DH. (and subbed in DS and crochet LOL)

Anyway would your older ds like fingerless gloves?, the adventure bag is a great idea, knitted toys are still great for this age (animals, figures etc) Do you just have the olive green color that came up or do you have lots of different colors?

If you just have the green I would think the fingerless gloves and an adventure bag for your older DS would be a great hit? start now and make it a back to school gift for the fall ! (or back to homeschool)
