I'm on night 4 of nightweaning, and it hasn't affected her day nursing at all!!!!!!!

Nightweaning never put a dent in my older boys day nursing either, I nightweaned at 2 and they nursed till they were 3!

I nightweaned DS1 at age 2, when pg with DS2, because I did not want to be nursing two at night. He didn't completely wean until a couple weeks after his 4th birthday.

DD nightweaned at 26-28 months (it was an uneven process), and is still nursing well. I think she would be nursing even more during the day except I started to put some parameters on it. Nightweaning doesn't have to mean total weaning, although if you aim to get pregnant, it might eventually lead to weaning if/when your milk dries up.

Mine was down to 1 night nursing at 9 months, and completely night-weaned at 11 months (I pushed to drop that last feeding). They both nursed until 18 months.

If it helps any to know, my DD (my first) didn't get nightweaned on purpose, she just started sleeping through the night without a peep, in her own bed, after about 18 months. I weaned her at 2 1/2 years because I was pg and just couldn't handle the sensation, and wanted to resume eating dairy, which she was allergic to. So I don't think nightweaning was the beginning of the end for her.
A friend nightweaned her child as a young toddler also, and that child self-weaned at 5.
