I need advice before going to Dr.

My son is 22 months and intact. This evening he began crying loudly and tugging at his diaper. DH changed him (not soiled and barely wet) and ds continued screaming, huge tears, turning bright red. I gave him a bath and tried to inspect what could be bothering him. When I tried to look at his penis and testicles he kept crossing his legs and screaming bloody murder. I can't see anything that looks abnormal externally.
My question is this:
Is it possible that his foreskin is retracting and causing him pain? I'm also concerned about a bladder infection possibly? We are uninsured but I obviously want to take him to the Dr. but I thought I would check with all the MDC experts first. DS sees a pediatric naturopath who is pro circ...I know...weird...so I'm afraid he will try to retract ds if I take him in with penis problems. I need quick info and help! Any insight or similiar experiences?
TIA

It could be that he has started the separation process and when he urinates it burns. It might be a UTI but from what you describe I am not thinking it is. Could anyone have retracted him? Like daycare or a relative watching him?

There is nothing the Dr. can do other than take a swab of the tip to see if there is anything there like yeast or bacteria. For this no retraction is involved. Make 100% sure that this Dr. dosnt retract even a tiny bit because if there is infection there it will make it worse.

Have you read this sticky http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=764732 if not then do so then decide if you want to take him in.

Is there any other sign of anything going on down there? Swelling anywhere penis or testicles? Any color? Any discharge that could be smegma?

With out any other signs of something going on with his penis, I would consider all the possibilities that could cause him pain in that general area: testicular torsion, painful gas, constipation, etc.
