I finally did it! I bought my first home before 30. Here's the quick and dirty:
It's a 3bd, 2 bath with a sunroom and a two car garage. the house was in foreclosure and I got it a steal. Let's just say it was around $100,000. It was built in 2003 and the insides of it were in great condition. I did get an inspection and everything checked out. It's about 1,900 square feet and I love it! I named it Case de la suenos (House of Dreams) because my dream came true.
My parents "gifted" me some of the money towards the down payment and closing but it was worth it. The good thing about it is that I don't have to deal with renting anymore (and my apt is on my bad side since I had to break my lease).
I do have some CC balances that I probably should have paid off but for what I got the house for, if I hesitated, it wouldn't have happened. I have been looking at this community for 7 years and always dreamed of living there. This house has been on the market twice (1st family was military and moved, 2nd family had problems financing). I finally got my dream house right across the street from the soccer field and love it.
As a single mother this was a dream come true. I must admit that its still a bit overwhelming for me. I moved in the same day I signed the paper.
I say all this to say that your hardwork budgeting and planning pays off. Keep that dream insight and it will come to pass.
