Saxon Math 3 ?

I'm considering buying Saxon Math 3 for my ds. I'm wondering how necessary is the Teacher's Edition book? I'm reading that it is scripted for you to present the lessons. If I bought the meeting book and the workbooks, as long as I am comfortable presenting the material without a script, could I get along without it? My dd is 10 and my ds is 8. We've homeschooled all along without a script for math and I do feel comfortable teaching the concepts we covered so far. I have most of the manipulatives already and we have used them on our own and to supplement the workbooks we've used. I haven't tried Saxon yet though. If you've used Saxon, what do you think? Is the Teacher's Edition vital to the program? Would we be missing out greatly without it? It is pricey and I would really like to buy Singapore Math and some Kumon workbooks as well. I don't think I can get the selection I want if I buy the whole Saxon program, but I'm worried it won't be right for him and I want to have other Math available for use or to supplement with.

Not sure exactly which version my dd's old K school used but it was an interesting program. The homework she brought home seemed pretty easy for one to figure out but then again I'm not sure what all is in the teacher's edition.

Hope someone has more inupt on the actual one.

But wanted to say I LOVED the way they went about teaching math.
