Which first or both? Progesterone or B6 for LPD?

This is my third pp cycle and I'm still nursing (DC #3 will be 2 next month). The first cycle, my LP was 10 days and the last cycle (if I even ovulated at all) the LP was 6 days. All signs point to ovulating very soon (early for me) and I'd like to do something to help my LP along to a normal length that's safe for nursing and pregnancy. I've been reading up on progesterone and B6 and am not really sure which one I should try. Any opinions greatly appreciated!

I had bad experiences with progesterone.

It made me feel very pregnant when I wasn't. Tired, hungry, tender breasts, spotting. I was miserable.

I love B6! It lengthened my LP from 10/11 days to 14/15 in one cycle with no side effects.

I am taking B100 complex. You need at least 50 mg of B6 to make a difference and you should always take the B vitamins in a complex.

When in your cycle did you start B6?

Since b6 is adressing the body and the issue and progestrone is just filling in for a symtom I would go for the b6

since there has been some medical debate as to the efectiveness of added progestrone in actually increasing or keeping pregnancy even if it does lengthen lp, I would go with b6

and since adding a hormone can have ripple effects in your system, I would go with the b6

as a side note you should look into taking a good b-complex. They need eachother to work their best and b6 particulary can hide signs of other b deficioncies sp?. And since you certainly want b9 (folate) as well, it's q great way to get a balanced set.

Thank you so much!

I think I'm going to try B6 this round and hope I don't need to think about a next cycle

If I do go get pregnant with the B6, how long into pregnancy do I continue it?

B Complex!!!

It only extended my lp by one day, but I swear it is responsible for my finally becoming pregnant the first time after trying for over 2 years.

You'll want to do some research on whether to stop it... I'm not sure you have to.

A good basic b complex is just a great suplement to take your growing baby and you need it. I do not know any reason to stop it. Other ladies might have more info.

Also remember that most cycles don't change really fast, give anything you do 3-4 cycle to work. It may happen faster but don't call it failed just cause it doesn't.

I've read studies showing that the amount of progesterone from a natural (non-prescription) progesterone cream can vary widely - including very high levels. That freaked me out a bit. Just a thought.

I'm doing B6 plus a prenatal - is that enough B complex do you think?

I started in the middle just before O. I've read you can start at any time in your cycle. Nothing to lose...go for it!

I take a prenatal AND a B100 complex. Meaning there is 100 mg of each of the various B vitamins within the complex.

i would always take the b in a complex, that way you are getting a balanced amount of all the b's rather than an increase in just one. if you are taking a good prenatal, you might consider taking a slightly lower b complex like a 50 or 75 since you are getting high b's in the prenatal already and the rest is a costly waste and some can be overdone.

i personally take B-Complex 75 Two Stage Timed-Release i like it because it is a powder capsule

I think my B Complex is a B50.

And, like Adorkable said, give it a few months, it is not an immediate "fix".
