Help.. slow cooker recipe question!!

My lovely dh got me a slow cooker, its a hamilton beach digital thingie lol

I want to cook a roast, potatoes, carrots.. basic right?

Well all the recipes are telling me to use cream of mushroom soup in it if I want it to make its "own" gravy. Problem is I am allergic to mushrooms.

Can I replace real celery with cream of celery? I want to try it and put in onion soup mix, But I don't know if it will work the same?

Also (sorry). Should I use water like the recipe says or use beef broth like I normally do when I cook a roast in the oven?

Sorry its all new and scary to me. I would hate to ruin a big roast from something so silly!

You can use cream of celery and beef broth instead of water - it will work exactly the same. Adding onion soup mix will give it a great flavour, so do that too.

It does rock. The only thing that's hard for us is that we don't have a programmable one like yours and since we're gone for so much of the day, most of the meat turns really tender. So I just have to cook beef and pork rather than chicken.

But do try the Indian Butter Chicken!
