need advice on dnc and/or endometrial biopsy

I need help. i've been ttc since dec 08. had one ectopic. I'm now seeing a fertility specialist and he had me do an hsg, a post coital exam and now an endometrial biopsy which is a/k/a a dnc. mine was scheduled for last month, the week before my period was due. I googled the procedure and it said not to do it if u think u may be pregnant. that made perfect sense to me b/c a dnc is how they clean u out after u miscarry. i called and canceled my appointment.

here i am, still not pregnant, and still not willing to give up a month of ttc for a dnc or biopsy or whatever the frick he wants to call it. i called the dr and asked to speak with him. i told him i freaked out last month and canceled bc i don't want to risk a good pregnancy but at the same time i want to know i'm doing everything i should be doing to get pregnant and find the reason as to why i'm not getting pregnant. My concern is that blood and urine tests would not be able to confirm a pregnancy a week before my period is due. he said not to worry bc he would ask me to come in on cd 19-21 right after i ovulate and right before implantation so that there would be no risk to a healthy pregnancy. that makes sense to me but what do u guys think? google said not to do it if there is a chance i may be pregnant. any opinions or experiences to share?

It seems to make sense what they said, it probably wouldn't interfere...but why can't they just do it before you O? Do they need the uterine lining? ok...never mind, that makes sense. In my experience, I would rather have the information if I think it might be causing a delay. As hard as my forced 2 month break was, it was worth it for the possibility to increase our fertility. Good luck with your decision!

A D&C and endometrial biopsy are far from the same thing.

An EB is similar to a pap, but more invasive and painful. They snip off a chunk of your endometrium. For me, they found atypical hyperplaysia, I believe it's things like that they're checking for. LIning issues. It has been normal protocol with each of my RE's.

For a D&C, you will probably be put to sleep and he will scrape your uterus out. Not sure why he would do this for you now?

Honestly, I would either not be here or be here without a uterus if I had skipped the EB. If you're being told to get one, please, give up the month to do it.
