nursing infant in sling

millie doesn't like the sling much, mostly preferring the front facing out carry. we don't babywear her much because she just doesn't like it. there are times when we are out (more now due to nicer weather) that i'd like to be able to nurse in the sling. does anyone have any advice on nursing an older infant in the sling? any videos would be great as i'm better at seeing it to learn it, iykwim.

I had great luck nursing my dd my maya wrap, but couldn't figure out how to in any other one.

My DD is one month older than your baby and I have just learned how to nurse her in the Balboa sling. Basically, she is in the sitting position with her legs stretched out length wise. I position the sling so that her mouth is right at my breast, I throw the nursing cover on and go about whatever I am doing. The first time she was a little taken a back because she was in a different position and I was walking, but she was super hungry so it worked out. Now she is a pro.
She does have very good posture and is a strong sitter, that may be a factor.
I was so amazed and happy that it worked. I have tried and failed in every other sling. I think everything just had to come together, the right position and the right age/ability level.
Good Luck!

We're still working on it, but I found the videos on the Sakura Bloom website to be very helpful. There are a lot of them, and it includes nursing an older/larger baby in an upright position, which is what is probably going to work for us, since DD is too big to lay down in a sling, I think.

thank you all for the replies. we tried the sitting up to nurse position the other day but i think i had her on too tight. she was just smooshed on there! i'm going to go look at that site, thanks beauchamp.

Nursing in a sling makes being out and about with baby so much easier. Here's a link with a video on nursing semi-reclined and then also upright.

thank you! i have a home made wrap, so i think the best position for us will be the upright. dd3 nursed reclined but millie doesn't like the sling touching her head!
