Need PP advice for virus

My 2yr old got sick the week of my c/s. She had an ear infection; itchy rash on her trunk and no fever. (This came almost a week after a cold).

I never got the cold. But right after my c/s - I noticed my ears felt full of fluid (not painful yet - just muffled & a little pressure); then I got the rash on my trunk 1 day PP. (The docs just thought it was a reaction to the elastic in the abdominal binder I has on.) I also started to get body aches - but again chalked it up to being part of post-surgery recovery.

Putting it all together last night. Same symptoms as my daughter. So, no fever (although I am taking pain medication that may mask a fever); no cold symptoms; my ears only painful after laying down or chewing on something harder. No cold symptoms. LOTS of body aches & itchy rash that drives me crazy at times.

Any thoughts on things that may help me speed the recovery? I know my body will take longer than usual - just because of the stress & recovery of a c/s. But besides rest, fluids, vitamins, and echinachea/ golden seal root. Anything else that might help? (and yes, I am breastfeeding.)

Those are all the normal things I'd think of, plus cod liver oil if you aren't already taking it. I hope you feel well soon!

Do you have an idea of what it could be? I use Homeopathic Sambucus when my kids seem to be getting stuffed heads with painful ears but I don't know what the rash could be. That doesn't seem fair that you would get sick right after having a baby!! Hope you feel better soon

Deirdre - I have no idea what it is. In fact, I had taken DD2 into the doc - b/c her rash reminded me of when DD1 had scarlet fever (strep). But her rapid strep was neg. and the doctor said she thought her rash was just "dry skin." (and an ear infection).
But I don't think she was right - now that I have the same symptoms!

Could it just be a viral rash? My dd used to get them any time she was sick. Probably not, since now you have it, but just a thought.

good luck and I hope you guys are feeling better soon!

I had something like that last year. It was really weird, but went away in a day or two...
