Berkey or an under counter water filter?

I hear the most about Berkey but would love the convenience of an under-the-counter water filter. We already have a seperate faucet installed, as we had a filter in the past that has since broken.

Are there any under the counter systems you can recommend? Counter space stays so used with all this cooking! I'll sacrifice if need be though. I do like that Berkey has an option of filtering flouride.

We have an Aquasana, which I like, but I wish we had A Berkey due to the flouride issue. If you have the $, I would definitely go with the Berkey.

We have a Berkey for just over a year now and love it. I really like the taste of the water, it is a bit slow to percolate (only 2 filters in ours) but it is easy enough to learn to keep it topped up. I also love that my water is not sitting in plastic, that we can take it camping and if the municipal water supply dies for whatever reason we have a way of making safe drinking water.

What's so great about the Berkey? I've been researching filters but haven't come across the Berkey...so I'm curious about it. We are in AZ most of the time so we have very hard water but I think I should probably to a softener and filter

One of my best friends has a Berkey and she loves it. The water is very nice tasting and want one myself.

Isn't it only the Black Berkey filters that remove fluoride?
I have an AquaRain Berkey knock off, but I haven't used it yet.

We rely on a distiller for our water primarily. It's loud, uses a lot of power, and I have to add minerals separately, but it does remove the fluoride.

Yeah, the flouride filter isn't standard but at least it's an option. I really hadn't weighed the metal berkey container in my pro/con list. Good point.

I've been worrying about our Brita pitcher for years now but haven't wanted to get an RO system because of the waste. I'll have to check out this Berkey...

Has anyone found out what the Brita pitcher is made of? I contacted them YEARS ago and they assured me it wasn't BPA...
