i am a bit in panic!

me and my dd (just turned 4) are going to travel overseas from germany to los angeles/CA next month! overthere is still flue-season and both me and my daughter are not vaccinated!

on top of this my dd has a very (!) low immune system - she basically catches EVERY flue and is sick a lot (bronchitis and simple flue).

i am worried!!! what shall i do - quickly get a vaccination at least for my daughter - or rather for myself?

i am a total mess....

Umm, I'm not quite sure why you're so worried. CA is in a first world country and has tons of non-vaccinated children and adults.

Wash your hands a lot and you'll both be fine.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry. I'm not in LA, but in northern west coast mexico, and no one here even seems concerned about it here anymore - neither here, nor in San Diego.

oh well, it wasnt meant as an insult!

its just that all this panic got to me, for months there was so much panic in all the news, and even my friend who lives in LA suggested to get a flue-shot...

thanks anyway.

No way I would get a flu shot for traveling to CA. If you are that concerned could you maybe give your dd some good CLO, vit d, and maybe a good probiotic to help her immune system. Start now to help build it up. Like pp mentioned, wash hands a lot. And maybe carry a natural hand sanitizer or even some silver spray w/you. GL w/your decision, but I wouldn't do it. FWIW, even if you did choose to get the flu shot, the virus can mutate and you may not even get the same strain in the shot that would be currently out there, KWIM?

Maybe these will make you feel better

Flu activity (including h1n1) is quite low in the US right now, including California which is reflected in these graphs

Go and have a good trip, wash your hands, eat healthy food and take some Vit C and D with you. You and your LO will be fine!
