My Gynecologist will not order my test for Progesterone tests till I go for my infertility classes...is thsi normal???..I am just 2 days past ovulation and I suspect a progesterone problem..why cant they just order a test to just make sure my levels are ok post ovulation??..has anybody had this problem?..how can i get around this?..do you actaully have to be trying to concieve for over a year to get them to do these tests??

Maybe try another doc ... since this one isn't listening? I just got my results today (very low progesterone).

My Naturopathic doc had me do a saliva test from ZRT labs, and their website says this: ...Click here to order a retail test kit online and take to your existing Provider.

http://www.zrtlab.com/health-care-co...er-a-test.html

I had to wait until day 19 of my cycle to collect saliva, so you would want to have it on hand ASAP in order to catch the right day ASAP. She gave me a kit and then I mailed it to these folks.

Good luck mama!!

hugs, i know doctors can be so frustrating and some are downright goobers

a few things to keep in mind:

progesterone tests are notoriously finicky, your levels spike and fall all day long so any one test can be off quite a bit. Some doctors prefer to go on symptoms rather than false freak someone out with a strange test.

peak levels dont happen till 7 days past ovulation, so any test to even have a hope of giving good info will need to be taken right around then

they are probably wanting you to go to the class so that you can put all this information in context. there are so many questions and so many tests and numbers, it really does help to have a good big picture.

and a few questions:

how long have you been TTC?

why do you suspect you have a progesterone issue?

Do you chart? can we take a look?
