Can anyone tell me if the one layer stretch denim pouch sling by Hotslings would be too hot for a baby in summer weather?

Bump cause someone is bound to own one of these.

I don't have one, but I do have to warn you about summer slinging. I had a July baby and she was very hot even in my Maya Wrap which is a somewhat breathable fabric. I can't imagine that something that's denim, even a thin denim, would be comfortable. Personally, I'd look for something else.

Nearly any type of babywearing is going to be hot in the middle of summer. A denim hotsling would likely be fine indoors with a/c, in the early morning, in the evening and night, and on cooler days. If your baby is a bit bigger than newborn and has good head control you could do tummy to tummy carries with you lo's legs and arms out, or a hip carry, which would be cooler probably than a cradle carry where much of the baby is covered.

Other lightweight options are gauze wraps, linen ring slings, etc.
